Stock speaker question

Does anyone know what, if any, brand was used for the stock door speakers in a 1998? I have the upgraded sound with the tweeters and factory amp, but have not gotten into the doors to take a look at the speakers. I've read some other posts mentioning JBL, but figured that was later models. I have installed a new HU and the speakers sound pretty good. I am about to install a powered sub, and am thinking about replacing the others, but not if they're a decent brand. Thanks

when i pulled mine out(i replaced all of my speakers with alpine type S) they were just some no-nothing speakers, paper cups and yeah, nothing to talk about, infact i was surprised they had lasted as long as they did. i also powered all my speakers off of an alpine amp as well, the sound is 10x better now. the speakers have no markings on them to identify who makes them

I'd be willing to bet they are A/C Delco. Nothing fancy.

the upgraded 6 speaker system in the 98s are JBL, mine are so old that the stamps on the magnets are no longer visible anymore. I replaced mine with JL Audio C2 components (6.5"mid, .75", and crossover)

Thanks for the info. After installing the new HU the speakers don't sound too bad. I just finished putting the sub in, so I'm sending most of the lows to that, which takes a lot of stress off the door speakers. I'll eventually switch those out as well, but for now they're staying.

What size are tre front and rear door speakers?

You can fit a 6 1/2 or 6 3/4 in the front doors, and a 5 1/4 in the back with a little tweeking...crutchfield is the best place to look IMO.

You need adapters for the rear if you want to put larger in. I used these
