Struggling with Step/Bar/Board Solution

I have searched and read and looked at various rides but am finding I can't really get a solid sense for what would meet my needs for my inbound '13 LE.

I do not need sliders or even close to slider capability.
I want:

A simple clean look
Functional as a step when needed
No chrome ;^)
Snugged-up close to the bottom of the body

I have been set on N-Fab steps with the spacers RiDE is making (?) but have seen a fairly consistent tone of "don't get N-Fabs" and it's not entirely clear why. I have looked at 'some' images of the DeeZee boards but they just look sorta cheap in the pics I have seen and appear to have a big gap between the body and the board.

Maybe a stock TE running board? Would they even work on a LE with XREAS? Are the N-Fab steps a good choice? Quality?

Again, sorry for this tired subject but the search functionality gets you a massive dump (so to speak) with each word searched pulling in the results.

Super easy install, light weight. I kinda wish I went for the flat black now but oh well, my wife likes them and that makes my life easier.

I'm kinda sorta in the same boat, but I'd like something that will help my 97 year old grandma into the car (no joke) plus protect my rocker panels if and when I'm playing around on the trail.

I'm sorta leaning toward Rocky Road supersliders. I'm a little new to the TR4 club and not sure what the link-to-another-site policy is, but they're easy to find with Google.

It sounds like the Nfabs are what you are looking for. Before i got mine i also saw the criticism towards their nerf bars and i think its just that they seem to "look" like sliders but when push comes to shove they will not perform anything like it: they are purely steps.

However, I don't think the nfab nerf bars will hug the body very closely with Ride's spacers. It seems the actual main bar would jut down and the steps be lower substantially. But correct me if im wrong :l

Just mount this bad boy in your garage or attach via a pivoting swingram to your roof and you'll be in business!

Thanks Natey. Those do indeed look like excellent sliders (real sliders). If I were planning on serious wheelin, I'd be all over those.

I like the look a lot (clean, close) but absent even a little strategically placed tread/texture, I'd hate to use them as steps in the winter covered with ice/slush...recipe for a big slip I'd imagine.

Maybe I'll contact and ask em if they can weld-up a small diamond plate pad or something....hmmmm.

I know any time I've told someone not to get N-Fabs it was just because they were planning on taking the truck off road. Don't know if they have any quality or customer service issues...
