Ive replaced plenty of shocks but never a strut. going to borrow the tool to hold the spring.
I ordered stock height Billsteins both front and rear and they delivered today. should be on my front door when I get home.
question is while searching for info I found http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/77663-2002-strut-replacement-question.html
Do any of the parts listed below need to be replaced also? wear and tear items?
(2)-48609-35030 (Top Plate with Retainer #2)
(2)-90948-01056 (Rubber Bushing)
(2)-90948-02161 (Retainer #3)
(2)-90948-02159 (Retainer #1)

It depends on the condition of the parts. It can't hurt to just replace them while you have it apart, if they are original parts. You can get those parts at the dealer or auto parts store easily. That's my opinion.
