Seems like way to many over asked questions about EVERYTHING , so please if possible can you guys change the color or font size so THEY can't miss these very informative threads without cluttering up this very valuable forum ? :thumb:

Yes sir ! This seems like a no brainer to me , color code the sticky's , make em pink or blink or something ? Fuq is just so lame , no one looks anymore ! Man when I 1st joined with my 05 I lurked for months & searched on stuff . and stuff I didn't know how to ask the right search question I might ask it .Oh well

I'm unsure why several of you have such a difficult time with new posters asking repetitive questions. Often times, a vehicle owner is a new enthusiast of a brand, or doesn't frequent a forum until a particular question arises. The success of forum search results is predicated on the characters entered, which is completely variable and not reliable. Many times, people are out living their lives, not spending time brushing up on their forum etiquette.

A few of you need to take a deep breath. As much as you would like it to be, this is not your forum, this is a community forum. A community thrives on an inclusive nature - not overzealous middle-aged white guys getting angry with their computer screens. If you're mashing your refresh button to just make angry, sarcastic "SEARCH FUNCTION NEWB" posts several times a day - you're the problem. Your post count doesn't equate to title or right. Go outside and enjoy the vehicle these forums are a resource for.

I think what is so frustrating is that it is pure laziness. The answers are for the most part all right there, all you have to do is look. Yes, people get new cars, want answers immediately, and we should WANT to help them figure out if 285s will rub at full lock without a lift. However, a lot of people come in, make a screen name, get their answer, and that's it. They themselves don't contribute dick. Until they ask what the part numbers are for the TRD PRO front end. That's why a lot of people on here are quick to tell people to search. I dont blame them at all. I also see where people get butt hurt and leave. So maybe highlighting FAQ might not be so bad. At least there is some effort to curb these lazy questions.

One could go hang out at some other related forums and get treated a hell of a lot worse than just "use the search" replies, that's for sure :

What builds a community? It is certainly not those that just take and never contribute. When you visit someplace, any place, physical or virtual, it is polite and respectful to observe what everyone else does, is it not? If someone request that you remove your shoes at the door, do you ignore them and leave your shoes on?

I'd say a lot of the guys with the high post counts are the guys who are out enjoying their vehicles the most. Unfortunately we can't be doing that every minute of every day, so when we aren't we cruise the forums to see how others are out there enjoying their vehicles. I'd say I do a fair bit with my 4Runner, but I'm always checking out J-BlickPhoto's thread to see what he's doing with his.

I myself joined after I bought my aforementioned 05 for answers on & about fixing certain problems that arise on used veh. Great info & MOST are, were , still helpful ! Some have continued to be a little (how you say dicks) , but those are n the few . Yes it is a community forum which is open knowledge , but what isn't IMO is laziness , come on man it's right FUQN there to see unless your blind !!!! However in fairness to some that are excited new owners ok but guys come with a plan for their 4r & these are the ones also IMO who abuse the system , what say you ? So being a community forum speak up !

And you know what? A little searching would answer that question for you, because we've had this conversation and explained exactly why we have a difficult time with lazy repetitive questions fiftyfukkingthousandtimes.

But there's always at least once noob butthole who never searches that comes into these threads to defend the noob buttholes who never search, so I'm sure we'll have it again, like freakin' Groundhog Day or something. Thanks for being that guy, Slug. You make the forum so much better.

This forum seems to be full of a bunch of arrogant Aholes. I have found lots of very informative stuff here!!!! With that being said I believe my days are done here. I know no one cares nor should they. But get over yourselves and maybe be a little more understanding. GOOD RIDDANCE!

I agree that some people just need to chill out on the newbies. If a person is new to forums and new to their ride they may not know the question they are asking is a common one. If you are tired of the question just keep scrolling... I came to this site as a 3rd Gen owner first and quite honestly those guys/girls were much nicer. There are a lot of A-holes in the 5th Gen forum and it's unfortunate because there are also a lot of good helpful people here and great information but it at times gets overshadowed by the jerks.

Example: I spent months reading and re reading threads on tire sizes and what rubbed and what fit. I paid attention to the adverse effects of wheel spacers and wheel offsets. I took that data and paid special care in creating a simple color coded chart to show what fits and what will require modifications to fit. That chart was not created in an hour.

That chart is stickied in the FAQ section and is right at the top. What is still the number one question here? Yep that's it.

Light it up, make it flash, blink or whatever but judging from some of the questions it won't matter. To the guy above talking crap about the high post guys - answering questions takes a lot more posts than asking them.

So all good responses but the thing is guys if you come on the 5th gen pg it's the 1st 5 sticky's you see HOW CAN THEY MISS IT ? Would you not agree that possibly your question might be here ? i mean there are 5 links to POSSIBLY all questions & answers ! There's gonna be dickheads on any forum or sub-forum , but mainly it's the same repetitive questions . It's why some of us joke with other's about tire size or if weathertech mats fit . Yes, some questions are simple and there is a clear answer available via a sticky or search....

BUT many questions are vaguely answered with general guidelines or not even answered correctly at all... and sometimes the answers change rather dramatically over time. What was available 2 years ago is often garbage now in terms of lights, stereo, tires, racks......... list goes on and on. So a few repetitive questions and answers don't bother me at all.

I usually try to search for a while, but it is often very unproductive and outdated.

What I think would help the forum dramatically is to break it up into sections within the 5th gen section. This would keep all the general question in on area and out of many peoples way. People could then follow the sections they are interested in.

The key to a good forum is active moderators (in the section). That seems to be missing here.

You made your 11,012 post to complain about someone defending people who don't know to search before posting on a message board.

I might be "that guy" but I'm not the guy complaining about repetitive questions on a message board with ELEVEN THOUSAND posts. Somehow, I'm pretty comfortable with my station versus yours. Thanks for exemplifying my point so perfectly.
