Summer Family Outbound Overland Trip - Green Ridge State Forest

I just confirmed the site is still booked and set up the porta john rental. We can't wait to meet everyone! And I'm SO excited to have other kids there (Because vacationing with kids is just parenting in another location and having other kids around gets us off the hook from full-time observation. You know what I'm talking about. Don't judge me.)

There's a fee for overnight camping plus porta john rental and we're asking each family to chip in about $20 (maybe less) per family to cover the costs.

Last offroad trip was early June at Rausch Creek, the itch to go off-roading grows strong yet again. I'll keep looking at your site to see if you are posting more outings!

You'll each get a download link for free 30-day trial with GAIA to download the map. Waypoints for the swimming hole, rally points and the afternoon icecream stop will be listed in case we have any stragglers.

Hello everyone, I'll be scouting a route this weekend and will post the details on our website, hopefully by Wednesday. I had a fun route planned but GRSF recently graded many of the 4x4 only roads and now they are pretty boring... so my mission for this weekend is to find something entertaining. I hope you guys have fun. I was being optimistic when I thought I could tag along with this run. Just too much stuff planned for this summer.

I just heard that they are opening up more land further west on 68 for offroad use. Its called St Johns Rock and Campground, in Savage River State Forest. It opens this weekend, July 23rd. I don't know much more details about it yet, still have to investigate.

Put me down as a maybe. I decided to take the wife and daughter on a pre-run down Peters mill rd. One was tired and wanted to go home, the other got motion sickness. :nono:

This may be a last minute decision for us. But will keep you posted.

Just a heads up... the Weinzapfel will be attending, 2 adults , 2 teens. We look forward to meeting the group. Question. Are we allowed to bring in fire wood? We just returned from the Shenandoah and they only allow you to purchase wood at the camp ground. Thanks for all the leg work getting this together.
