Sunvisor not folding up all the way.

My drivers side Sunvisor will not fold up all the way up. It seems to be getting worst . Does anybody else have this issue? Living in Sunny California I use it a lot , but it seems odd that it would start to wear out in 7 years.

Same problem with my 2000 SR5. Guess I'll be looking for a new one.

It's been 7 years since I first posted on this thread and I still haven't replaced my driver side sun visor. Local stealership wants a $100.00 WTF!!! I guess I'm cheap and don't want to spend the money. Also, it seems I'm always driving facing the sun so I have to have the sun visor down anyway. I think its time to buy a new sun visor.

Same problem. Only I'm so tall it is essentially useless to me as it always blocks my view. May just remove mine.

I only lasted a couple months before it made me nuts and had to replace it, $80 on ebay.

If any try to take it apart, there is a groove that needs to line up. Top 2 pics show alignment.
The plastic just blows apart after awhile. I scored it with an Exacto knife to try and get more friction, didn't really help much.
Maybe able to get creative with some epoxy? Rebuild/remake the flat spots.

this happened to out '07 4runner. sick of bumping my head, having it obstruct vision, etc. finally bit the bullet and picked one up at my local dealership. $63 discounted. necessary and worth it in the end. don't waste your time trying to fix it.

Just bought an '05 SR5. The driver's visor doesn't stay up. This thread is telling me that my choices are to live with it, replace it with a new one or get creative with something that will hold it up like string or magnets.

Yup.
Pull it apart and look at it.
Be nice if you/we could just buy the little "L" shaped part.

After thought...if you pull it apart and wrap the broken section with electrical tape...or what ever, it might hold...until you wear through the tape.

Needle nose type plastic clip/clamp and clip it to the secondary visor when not in use. Think I got the clip at Harbor Freight or it may have come an in assorted plastic clamp package from Walmart, your results may vary...previous owner had used valcro.

This is what I did to hold up my visor. The visor folds up barely missing screw head. When pushed up fully, extend pull out visor over top of screw! I even spray painted the screw brown. Hey, it works.

I just bought a 2nd Gen and having the same issue. Hard to find any in good condition but i may just end up removing them

Why not try some neodymium magnets for $2, It may be only needed on the visor if it sticks to the roof

The $50 visors on ebay will fit, but they are not true oem. The labels are different and they dont have the plastic pouch for the information card.

The oem visors will cost you double at $100.

I may try to bend the bar, what do you have to lose?

I read in a thread on another forum if you take velcro, the part with the hooks, and wrap a layer around the shaft where the visor meets (the velcro is inside the visor as you pull the visor out to reach the shaft) it will solve the problem.

Theirs no bar in the visor to bend like the old style visors. Just buy a OEM visor. Trust me, it’s worth it in the long run.

Seconding this. I tried multiple velcro/magnet solutions.. ended up just getting OEM visor. Just don’t be an idiot like me and get the color that doesn’t match your interior.

No, no, no....Listen to Mastee's suggestion. That's the way to go. After seeing that no one can adequately fix this problem without spending up to $100 on a new one, my first thought was magnets. You can buy really powerful ones or semi-powerful. I'll rig something up and see how it turned out.

Mastee, if you're still around and went with the magnet trick, please upload pic.
