Hey all, bought a 2nd gen supercharger and have been looking over threads and the install instructions and can't quite figure it all out. Do the 2001 and up have to use the IAC check valve? How about the 3 way vacuum T?(I don't have vacuum actuated diffs so idk) Heres everything I have, minus the belt(on order), gaskets(plenum and throttle body on order), spark plugs(on order) and having the two small brackets made along with the drivers side mount spacer. Please help, can't seem to get the answers I'm looking for.

So you will need the following items to install your supercharger:

(4) Socket Head Cap Screws, 8x1.25x65mm & (4) 8mm washers (these attach the throttle body to the supercharger)

IAC check valve is required and cheap.

You will need a T for the boost gauge tap in and for the evap to 4wd vsv line. The evap is 5/16" I believe and the vsv is 1/4". Any parts store or home depot will have that fitting.

BTW, here are the install instructions. It will show the hose routing instructions for your year 4runner. http://www.customtacos.com/tech.old/files/v6_supercharger.pdf

Overall install isn't very bad and can be done in 3-5 hours pending how fast you work.

Thanks SCRunner12, you're a champ. Guess its good timing that you responded, seeing you're installing yours right now also. Hope it goes well man!! Let me know how you like yours when you're done.

So you cannot use the stock throttle body bolts?

Haha, yeah it worked out perfectly. I finished last night and I love the extra power, although I'm worried I installed my IAC valve backwards. Going to have to check that soon.

IDK. I kind of assumed you could, but they might not be long enough? Ill leave this to question to someone to answer. SCRunner12 maybe?

No you can't. The stock throttle body bolts consist of two long bolts and two nuts. The other two bolts are built into the throttle body and cannot be reused. Those 4 bolts can be found online pretty easily. I have a link on my work computer. I'll get it tomorrow.

Bummer, just blow in it and see which way it lets air pass through.

No problem. It's pretty daunting to look at off the truck, but once you start tearing into it, it's not that bad. Just go slow and pay attention to what you are doing/taking off. If you are installing the boost gauge right away you might want to check out what T fitting you need and how to install it. I'm looking out for a boost gauge, as it would be helpful to see if I'm losing any boost anywhere. I would get some new oil as well for it. Might as well while it's off the truck since it's easier.

I am actually contemplating selling the white TRD boost gauge I got with mine. I know its super rare, but I think I want a digital boost gauge or a black faced TRD gauge. I don't have anything white in my car so it just doesn't seem fitting for my taste. Also, I forgot to mention I ordered an oil change kit as well when ordering my S/C belts so ill be doing the oil change like you said before installing so it won't be such a hassle. Sometimes slow and steady wins the race. You are completely right by saying its "daunting". I get stressed looking at it then at my engine compartment, then back at pictures again. I fear getting it installed and not having my vacuum lines right and something not working after, especially because the directions are vague at best where to connect things. They don't really show the 2001^ installs very well. My evap canister isn't under the hood like the 2000 and below, so that alone confused me to hell. But I think I have it all figured out. Guess we will see come tuesday. lol

I'll take that boost gauge off your hands to the nice price of free...haha. Good call on getting the internals and oil all cleaned up. It will be worth it in the end and easier to do off the truck.

Hmm, I've never actually noticed a 2001 engine compartment, but I'm sure guys like BFAD could help you out.

Haha free is always a nice price. So far, I'm only about $200 invested in my supercharger build. Probably after selling the gauge and buying a new one I'll be around $250 I think. Also, do the IK22's need to be gaped or are they pre gapped correctly? If they need gaping, what is the gap?

Shane- think of it this way... I'm about to install my SC on an '01 as well so the questions you're asking are helping us both out! I'll be tracking your progress and following in yours and Roberts steps soon. Can't wait to be back in the SC club! Good luck man!

Man **** I wish I could get my ****ing **** I'm my truck and **** some *****. ****ing can't wait till my **** gets in so I can ****ing put my supercharger in, I've been waiting too ****ing long for my 7th ****ing injector. ***********!!!

They need to be gapped.

Hmm, I've read a few sources that say .32. That's what I did and I haven't had any issues yet. Maybe some of the other guys can chime in.

Ya, more info would be great! And from what I just read, supposedly you're not supposed to gap irridium plugs cause you can damage the tips?? This seems logcal because they are such a fine tip on them...? P.s. I may be in the middle of my install as we speak...just maybe. Lol

You can gap them, just don't use the coin shaped tool or you would mess up the tip.

you get a gap tool like this one, so you dont get close to the tip. this is just some picture I got from google.
