It isn't. It's the same engine. The only difference may be from hood clearance, but even that I doubt. So far, most of the aftermarket performance products for the V6 seem to be targeted at the FJ and Tacoma possibly due to a younger, more performance oriented crowd...

i thought the Tacoma Pre-Runner or X-Runner (or whatever it's name is) had an option for a TRD Supercharger. i'm almost positive i read a review on a SC'd one in autoweek or some blog a while back.
being it shares the same engine as the T4R i thought one could bolt the blower onto the T4R engine.

I totally agree...in northern Illinois there are WAY more 'Runners than there are FJ or Taco combined...WTF Toyota??? And I thought it funny that Carson is offering free shipping on the first FIVE orders...if TRD had a clue and would do whatever they need to do to get the S/C spec'ed out for the 'Runner, Carson would have like 5 orders by the time they could blink after loading up on the website...they wouldn't need any incentives...apparently Toyota could care less about their aftermarket...

Searching around some more I see that TRDparts4u.com has a fit kit you have to purchase to for the Taco and FJ. I wonder what it includes and why TRD just can't make one for the 4Runner.

Just noticed after reading the text. Specifies "Sorry, they do not have the fit kits for the 4runner or Tundra YET." So maybe there is hope!!!!!

Nice find on the Dallas TRD parts website...they make it sound suspiciously like there WILL be fitment kits made for the 4Runner - basically it looks like the main S/C and then you buy a fit kit...so, let's all keep or fingers crossed that the ethanol wears off in the "FJ Crazy" section of TRD and they get their butts to work on a 4Runner fit kit ASAP - like NOW already!!!

Personally, I'd love the power of a Supercharger but it kind of defeats the purpose of having the 6cyl in the first place. I bought it over the 8 to save some dough on gas and purchase price.
If a person wanted more torque, why wouldn't people just buy the v8 from the start?

There's so many FJ/Tacos on the lot and no 'Runners because the 'Runners get sold and the FJ/Tacos sit and collect dust! On the S/C tip, the blower plus V-6 option results in a more efficient delivery of power vs. V8 - but the point of this thread is not to debate V6 vs. V8...there's plenty of other threads for that...besides, can't someone just "want" to have a supercharged V6? Why do I need a reason? This is a free economy, is it not?

My friend is a sales guy there and he backs up my observations. When I ordered my V6 in the spring, I test drove 2 different runners at the same time. One was a black V6 SE and the other a White V8 LTD. The black V6 SE was still on the lot more than 2 months later and the white one was just sold a couple weeks before I took delivery. Whoa there, nobody is "debating" a V6 Vs a V8 other than possibly you (I say this as a V6 owner). I just merely mentioned if you wanted power, the V8 is a far easier, effective and simple way to go. You get the added bonus of being able to retain feeding it regular fuel, something that is very unlikely with the SC.
If a person wants to blow a few grand or more on a blower, knock yourself out. I would like one too, in the same way I would like a lot of things but in the world of mods it really doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
But, you're right - it's a free world and if someone wants to do it, go for it. I'd actually like to drive one to try. It just kind of defeats the whole purpose of buying a V6 in the first place for the rank and file.
