Hello,

Currenty have a 4runner 4x4 2012, it is bulletproofed and I am wondering if anyone in here knows about a site where I can look for heavy duty swaybars and something similar to TRD supercharger since TRD is not bringing a supercharger for us.

Jose, I cant help you with the sway bars or supercharger, but would LOVE to see some pics of that 4Runner. This is some new territory for T4R.org i believe....

Thanks, I will take some pics, but for right now I have a AFE filter, Magnaflow exhaust system, URD headers and a Jet Performance Chip. I still need to do a tuning to see exactly how much hp I have. It is also a level 3+ bulletproof car.
 
Good luck on the supercharger. Only seen one on Gadget's truck. The TRD one is still only talk from the last thread posted. Heavy duty sway bars....haven't seen any yet but there is a 4th gen guy that tracks his runner and has aftermarket sways.
 
I know you are looking for upgraded sway bars, but have you also considered stiffer springs?

Out curiosity what does it weigh in at after all the bullet proofing? :)
 
Christ I bet that thing is slow. The bulletproofed Land Cruisers are pigs...

What are you doing to help stop it?

Which brand of tires are you using?

Which brand of transparent armor are you using?

Are the windows still functional?

What was used to fill the voids in the body panels?

Where did you get the custom door hinges to maintain the extra weight?

Can an average human still lift the rear tail gate?

Last question- How did you justify the cost of bulletproofing a Toyota 4Runner? It costs ~$50k for a basic bullet proofing of a full size sedan... Let alone a medium sized SUV.

To be honest, I don't believe this thing is bulletproofed from the pictures.

Looking at the photos he posted in his album, as linked by the fellow above me. As you can see it's sitting just as high as a stock 4Runner, with stock suspension, as he claims in his list of modifications, and his questions in suspensions.

As to how I, "Know so much"...
Mostly from research out of general curiousty prompted by riding in a good number of them. I don't know a ton about it, just that a LOT goes into it, and it costs a LOT of money.

I also know that there are universal standards of which, "Level 3+" does not exist inside of. Unless of course I am an idiot, and Guatemala decided to re-invent the wheel in regards to ballistic protection standards. This is all possible, I suppose.

From the minimal research I've done, most armorers, even those within the United States that make over-seas sales, have their own rating scale.
 
I have seen some 4runners on here with "nij 3" protection. Maybe this is what the OP meant....?
 
My main experience on this side of the world is Brazil but its true elsewhere as well - many go to the dealer to buy their vehicles like we do but instead of driving it home its sent out for ballistic protection as part of the purchase. The level of protection chosen determines the final weight and what other upgrades (suspension, brakes, etc.) are required. Main issue I would see for the 4Runner would be run flat tires which could a important ingredient.

And trust me its not just for the paranoid. While not technically legal its a very common practice to never fully stop at red lights at night in places such as Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. A little freaky at first but you get use to it fast.

Most? The only one I can think of is IAC. Any company worth mentioning will be following NIJ 0108.01 or Euro Standard EN 1063. A few I have seen following the Underwriters Laboratory 752.

Regardless, until this guy posts some pictures of his bullet proofing, this is me throwing the BS flag.

If indeed it's true, pretty neat stuff.

You are right about the standards but seeing that the OP is from Guatemala I would hang on tight to that BS flag if I were you.

A solid point.

The pictures/mod list just don't add up to me. To be honest, I am hoping it's true. I think it's an intriguing concept, and would like to see more of what all was done.
 
OK, but unless he posts pics of the actual install (which would be cool) there is nothing to see other than thicker windows, if he went that route instead of film.
