No one ever said there wasn't any aftermarket support for the GX470, merely that its limited when compared to the 4Runner. You can argue it all you want, but you will never convince me that the GX will EVER have as many aftermarket offerings as the 4Runner...

I agree, and while that may be the case, what from what I see, nothing is really missing to get it to where it needs to be.

Anything of importance that matters is already available for the 470, including long travel suspension, armor, bumpers, and roof rack.

How many more options does one really need if the options that are available are already pretty damn good?

Truly depends on your outlook. I think we all start out with the mindset of being Utilitarian, however the more options the better. If there is only one or two options for an off road bumper, sure it gets the job done... but will you necessary "like" the looks of either option? Maybe not? Maybe so?

Simply just stating the fact that there is less out there for the GX simply due to the limited number produced compared to the 4R, coupled with the even more limited number being modified for offroad use. Doesn't make much sense to produce an aftermarket product, going into that you are selling to an already limited market, unless of course it is a personal passion or otherwise.

Personally, if given the option I will take the opportunity to have the most amount of options possible over the limited. :shrug:

What offerings? It's a 120 chassis, aftermarket 4G 4Runner suspensions are a direct fit unless it's KDSS equipped, uses the same rear airbag-to-coil spring conversions. Brakes are the same, uses the larger 4th-gen fronts. Exhausts are interchangeable.

I thought about going the route of gx 470. They are great for replacing a 3rd gen under hp 4 runner with. The gx470 is a great vehicle with lots of aftermarket support and well built v8 and transmission

It's only a hurdle if you want it to be a hurdle...

Before this Covid-19 situation, I was talking to some local off-road shop for a custom tube bumper for my 4th gen because I couldn't find something that I really wanted.

Custom fabrication is always a route and levels the playing field. It's also worth mentioning that it was still a cost competitive solution. I have considered doing the same for the GX.

At one point in time I WAS considering the GX460, and I have even discussed with Demello off-road dropping the vehical off so they can do development on it, and they were in fact interested.

Even my 4th gen roof rack is a custom non-commercial piece. I literally don't see any of this being a problem for the GX. Plus, many parts are already a direct swap over from the 4th gen. I think we are in the good place with the GX all things considered.

That is a photo from the day I took delivery. It was bare steel, and I eventually painted it black.

Next to my friends bone stock GX which I plan to buy. It did great out there that day.

Awesome! Almost got a 2005 GX when I was looking for my current car, but someone snagged it out from under me. My dad has an '05 GX with 210k on the clock and it's fantastic.
