Switches-running out of spots

I'm running out of spots to put switches. I still need to put switches in for the Andy Mod and one for an auxiliary fan.

The one spot that I do have open is much bigger than the switch that's going to go there.

Also, why did Toyota put the seat warmer switches here. They should be somewhere near the center console so the passenger can control it themselves.

I'm open to any ideas and suggestions.

actually its pretty easy to cut a spot out for a switch just tape up the spot and use a small cutting wheel to cut out a new one.

Nice. That looks pretty good. Did you have to cut out slots in that plastic insert?

Also, where did you get those switches with the green light? The switch I picked up at Toyota today just has a printed fog light logo on it.

ahh you have the coveted front seat heaters and a rear locker! I'd love to have those warm me up seats in my manny tranny vehicle.

I never have understood why the passenger can't control their own heater. Never did make sense to me. Probably just convenience for Toyota to place it in those slots to left of the driver. You could probably splice in a jumper and run that over to the center console-but then where would it fit over there? You could perhaps run the seat heaters switches to each side of the console-below the arm rest at the expense of the storage space inside. Then you would free up those two switch holes.

Aftermarket radio or stock? If you go after market then go single din size and free up the pocket below the radio for adding several switches. extensive pics in my Facebook link.

Several manufacturers make those size of switches-I saw some at the Jeep and Truck Fest show at the Merchandise Mart a couple of weekends back. It is fairly easy to drill out a hole in the switch cover plates like mine: I used the small green lighted round switch (from Hella) for my rock lights and a Toyota factory switch for my Hella driving 500s.

I wish I had a rear locker! Unfortunately, it's an '01 and that's a center diff lock switch.

I have the stock radio. It's the one with a cassette and 6 CD player.

I was thinking of doing the center console mod and putting the seat warmer switches in the slots if I can find a reasonably priced center console with those switch inserts.

It locks the center differential. Do a search for "center differential." It'll keep you busy for hours.

I have a spare "rear heater" switch which has low high and off on it, i know thats not what you are asking about but you can have it.

I also have 2 blank factory switch covers in Black if you were to cut a piece of trim to make a new location, i was saying that i have the cover insert so you can put a switch onto it.

I was reading your cup holder/center console mod. Your writeup is what gave me the idea to move those seat warmer switches.

Are those blank slots on your new center console sized to fit the fog light sized switches?

The large spot that you have open can fit 2 of those rocker switches if you trim the sides of them. That way you wouldn't have to cut up the large switch cover.

I cut out some rectangular openings in the plastic cover to fit the switches. The plastic cover is a few dollars at the dealership so it's easy to replace if you need to.

Not sure I understand your question. Are you wondering what's powering them?

They run off of the battery, which means if you're running them w/o the truck running, the battery will drain. I haven't installed one yet but I imagine they run off of two or three wires. Positive, negative, and separate ground. The switch is just a switch that completes the circuit.

I'm sure your dogs would love to have some fans to keep them cool in the summer.

There are no slots on the 99+ console to put stuff, the 96-98 console had 4 spots, and i took the switch covers off of them cause i knew they would come in handy one day. They are the size of the seat heater switches.

Any new circuits you put in your truck need to be fused, either off the fuse box or using a new fuse that you add. The fuse should be on the positive lead and as close to the battery as possible.
