Installed new inner and outer tie rods today, also spc warrantied the upper ball joints and gave me the new design. Installed those as well and turned them up for 4*+ of caster. Alignment tomorrow.
Tie rods on drivers side were so bad I'd consider them dangerous... There was a solid inch of play in the system and once off they flopped around all loose. Inner side was completely dry and the ball was all pitted. Not a great situation... Passenger side was bad but not dangerous I'd say.

Ended up going with moog since they have a lifetime replacement.

Well that what I may end up going with as Ill be replacing the a CV, the LCAS and wheel bearings. I might as well replace what I can as most of the components have 170k+ on em.

I normally go with duralast because of the lifetime warranty and they don't ask questions, but I couldn't get the part for a couple days and I needed my truck today to drive 250 miles back to work. So when I found a place that had one in Stock I made sure it had lifetime warranty.

Interesting day so far.... Stupid alignment shop tried telling me they could only get 1.1* of caster and everything was in spec. I called bullshit, especially since I have the balljoints set at the 4* setting already! Left there and am now struggling to find a shop with an opening...
Guy said it's in spec, yet it pulls all over the road, pulls to the right when hitting the gas, to the left when hitting brakes, and is visually toe'd out.... Wtf man.

New shop was able to do my alignment without issue. Old numbers are the shop this morning that apparently are worthless, new shop and final specs on bottom. They noted that my passenger uca bushings are worn and allowing some movement... So I guess that's next on the list.

Nice I have ways ran and swear by moog wierd to hear you say you like duralast, you seem to be harder on parts than anyone I know so will take that into consideration. Trying to decide if I'm doing ballpoints and inner outer tie rods when I do the kift as well then only have one alignment to pay for...

Nothing wrong with moog! I like duralast because most parts have a lifetime warranty at a great rate, and there's an autozone on every corner it seems. But, since switching to duralast, I haven't broken any of their parts!

I just read through your build thread and I like your rig a lot. I am just curious, I heard that when flushing really bad transmission fluid it may have shredded pieces of metal in it and there is a possibility that your gears can slip because it is not accustomed to such lubrication? I wanna call BS but I'm too scared to get the flush even though I really want it at 182K

Tbh I really don't know. I've heard that as well, but really can't understand it. I do know that my Trans was so bad that anything was worth a shot at that point. It works good now, but I do have a solenoid that is making it surge sometimes still. That isn't a slipping issue, that's an electrical issue with the individual solenoid. I can replace the faulty solenoids and be good to go, but at 223k+ if it goes I'm just going to find a used Trans with lower miles and swap it out.

I suggest purchasing a lifetime alignment from Firestone Mastercare as they're totally worth the money. All of my vehicles have them, one of them since 1991! As much as we monkey with our suspensions, getting free alignments after the first one is good for the pocket book.
