Dude, you over extended the shocks is my guess!!!Well, the other rear bilstein bit the dust. Truck felt weird and I looked under at the axle and the passenger side shock has broke exactly like the drivers side did. Pulled right out of the threads... Stupid Bilsteins!
They've been leaking for almost a year. My guess is it ran out of fluid and seized up like the other side.Dude, you over extended the shocks is my guess!!!

But yes, I'm sure they've been over extended a ton! Lol

How many miles did you get out of them? Feel like they did their job well despite breaking now?
Build looks awesome, I spent way too much time at work reading this thread. However, now I have even more ideas :reddance:
I've hated them since month 4. To stiff, can't keep up at all, and although I have around 60k on them, I'll never buy another bilstein product. Blew a front out before too.
Thanks! I've spent many a day reading and getting ideas from others, then put my own twist on it. Lol

I'm thinking with procomp shocks until I can afford a real upgrade. These or if I can ever find the damn thread, the extended length ones. http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Rear-Nitrogen-Charged-ProComp-Shocks-FJ03-09-4Run_p_202.htmlWhat are you planning on replacing the Bilsteins with?
These are the 8000's, which are valved much firmer for prerunner applications, the 3000's are soft. I read many reviews and the only bad ones was that they are to firm, but every single review like that was guys using them on a Jeep Wrangler, which is shorter and much lighter. I'm not going with the kit specific to the 4runner either, I found the shock with 10" of travel, which is all I can use until I get longer coils. I'm hoping they will handle and hold up better than the Bilcraps!I considered getting thier kit a while back, but ended up finding the takeoff Taco stuff - I ran d-tech on my lowered mini truck back in the late 90's, were great for lowered crowd and still are, they used to make some of the big name shocks like Toxic and rebrand - I think out of the small brands they had back in the day D-tech is the only ones taht are still around. The were good but somewhat soft on my application, I ended up trading them out for Koni's on the lowered application - the yllows of course as they were adjustable, but don't belive they do anything for the lifted crowd
Good luck, seems your very hard on parts and have the salty winters, the biggest complaint i found on the d-techs was the paint is crap, so if i was you would buy some very good clear - eastwood clear - something stronger than rustoleum and put a very good/thick coat on a few days before you install them. I think you would be good for years with them if you do that!
Well, hopefully an addition, if financing plays nice... I need a bigger truck, and a truck with a bed too. I love my 4runner and it won't go unless there's just no other way. If I get the Tundra I'll be looking at building a rack like allpro sells,Define looking? Truck time in addition to 4runner?! Looks pretty sweet looks like a "contractor" truck and well that's what you do so...

Ya, I have balance beads in my 35's. Worked good until tires went out of round. If I can keep both trucks will go with some all terrains on the Tundra, then swampers on the 4runner as it'll be an offroad toy at that point.Nice should hold up - and as for the 37's they are the best as you can still get them balanced at any tire shop, anything bigger - balls inside and bb's are only options.
Looks pretty nice, I think you would end up lowering it a bit espeically if you plan on using the rack to put ladders on...
Installed my new O2 sensor today. According to Torque app it isn't stuck at .5v anymore, but it doesn't fluctuate as much as the passenger side, not even close. So not sure what's going on there, but hoping it doesn't pop a code anymore.
Supposed to get my new spindle/hub assembly for the drivers side tomorrow, and I have to order a wheel bearing for the passenger side too... Grrr. Lol
Next up when cash allows is brakes all around, resonators for the exhaust, wheels and tires as my rims are slightly bent and the tires are out of round. Thinking this is helping kill my wheel bearings. Also need to do timing belt, water pump, power steering pump, radiator since mine is full of dirt that I can't seem to get out, new hoses since I'm in there. Also thinking of switching to an electric fan. Any thoughts on that?
Other little things I can't think of right now too. [emoji106]

I'll have to pick your brain on the wiring for the fan. Never done it before.I'll be doing e-fan conversion fairly soon, wired up on thermostat with an override switch inside, do this on all my rides as we have a lot of water in Florida, not to mention my stock fan clutch is shot and it's loud sitting at idle everywhere. That's a lot of maint/mods coming up those always suck unless you do some upgrades st the same time! For the brakes make sure you do the 2010+ calipers and rotors when you do it, a little more bite and size for what typically is cheaper
