tablet mount

I've been looking for a relatively cheap tablet mount for a long time. I only will use it a couple weeks out of the year for Gaia and other navigation software. I think I finally found it with the iOttie Easy Smart Tap. Adjustable enough to stay off the vents, removable, and reasonably stable. When the tablet is in the car, it replaces the head unit except for the volume control. So far, so good.

Nope, but I've only had it a couple of weeks, so time will tell....

I wonder how that will stay stuck to the dash with it dimpled. usually those sticky pads need a smooth surface.

Nope, but I've only had it a couple of weeks, so time will tell....

It will be interesting to see what happens once your dash has been baked in the sun and the mount is released.

The dash is apparently a block of material with some sort of synthetic covering over-layed on it. It is possible that when the dash is subjected to extended heat from the sun , the suction attachment just might be enough to lift the covering and cause a bubble or some other deformation.

In a study by the Journal of the Louisiana State Medical Society ".. we compared the temperature rise inside an enclosed, dark-colored vehicle with the temperature rise in a light-colored vehicle with the windows partly open. Within 20 minutes, readings in both cars exceeded 125°F and reached approximately 140°F in 40 minutes--a temperature rise of over 45°F

That is my main concern.

A tablet is what, anywhere between $300 and $500 depending on size and brand? Why go with a cheap mount that risks breaking it. Spend a little more on a Ram Mount for peace of mind and be done with it.

I'll check back in after my July trips. I guess I'm not as concerned about my dash as some others here.
