Tablet mounting options

Just curious what you guys have done/what you use.

I've got an 7" tablet I've had for a little bit, and with the truck being close to running I want to see some options.

Looking around I saw this, but I'm not sure it'll work with my tablet.

I'm interested in opinions/ideas as well.

Been looking into getting the one you listed, to use with an ipad mini. It's a bit cheaper on amazon.

my buddy has a nice mount for his ipad in his land cruiser thats right up your alley. basically a tube comes up to support the tablet and is bolted onto the passenger front seat bolts and one of the rear bolts. then it has a ball joint to adjust the angle on the mount.

If you don't mind drilling into your dash...

I run a RAM setup , it has the little ball mount , with a pivoting arm that holds a cradle for my iPad, which I use to run MotionX...

Total cost was about $60 , and it's very stable even offroad because the arm is short, beware of the longer arms that hold your device, or at least support them better or they will shake all over the place when u hit the dirt.

I have an Arkon for my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4". It works great. I use Waze for nav and Rocket Player for music. I posted a pic in Things I did today early last year. Out of the country so file is not accessible to me now.

I had an Akron mount, it wobbled a bit much for my taste.
The Ram mount has proved much more stable

What about the passenger air bag?

That is a 2nd Gen Dash, no airbags...

these are the pictures here. it uses a ram mount with a ball joint and is extremely solid, like solid enough to use as handle to get in the truck.

I tried that Arkon two years ago when I first mounted my tablet, it just moved way too much for me. I use my tablet as my stereo, bluetooth for the phone, nav, email, texting. It's just too floppy. So I bought a ram mount and screwed it to the floor, with enough extension to bring the tablet up in front of the A/C registers. The mount at the floor still moves but less. I used that set up for a year and a half, but it's getting on my nerves. Since I don't have a head unit, I velcroed it to the wood and carpet I have blocking the opening. Not the best viewing angle, but it doesn't move so much. I'm thinking of moving the registers and mounting in permanently up high. Here it is in my L/C, which already had a high double din position.

Oh and I used the head of the Arkon unit for that, bolted it through a metal bracket I fabbed up which uses the original radio bracketry.

I'd say Ram Mount. I use it for my phone (greatest mount ever) and i've also used one of their large X-mounts to hold a tablet. Very sturdy and the mounts are pieces so you have almost endless options as to lengths, suction vs fixed base, and attachments other than the x mount.

I never said they were cheap mounts... But they'll probably outlast the devices they hold.

I also have a Ram Mount X-Grip and it holds my phone really well offroad. I'm using the Panavise bracket that mounts to the right of the radio next to the glove box and have the Ram Mount bolted to it. The bracket allows some vibration over rough terrain, so I'm hesitant to use my iPad mini without reinforcing the bracket somehow. Not that the X-Grip wouldn't hold it, but the vibrating while Offroad will probably drive me nuts.

I'm thinking one day I'll tack a gusset on it to reinforce the thin metal where it bends, but making one with a heavier gage metal isn't out of the question either.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 on a Proclip holder and a Proclip mount on the dash. This setup is secure and does not require drilling any holes or any other permanent modifications.
