Tacoma Skid plate on an '03 4Runner.....(install pics)

I just bought a skid plate (I think it is from a Tundra??) for $20. I drilled two holes in it and mounted it to the front bumper. I have the unpainted cladding and ther are two bolts in the middle of the bumber that hold that on; I just used them to attach the skid. Fits great and looks good! I can still use my tow hooks and I didn't have to drill into my frame. Sorry, no digital camera.

Got lucky!! This guy had it and I offered him $20. It is aluminum and came with brackets; I took the brackets off to mount it.

Here is the bracket installed.

On the tow hook end (from the bottom going up) I put one of the 1/2" washers on the bolt then on of the large washers, then pushed it through the hook. On the top of the hook, I put the other large washer, the bracket, another 1/2" washer, then the nut.

On the skid plate end of the bracket, I put the bracket under the skid plate, since you can't really se the underside. Then just put the (cut-down) bolt through the bracket and skid plate(from the underside) then the 1/2" washer and the the nut.

momo.75, I see you used tow hooks as mounting points. What about if you ever will need to be towed? I couldn't find any other towing places? Have you thought about it?

If I ever have to be towed, it would be on a flate bed truck.

I installed the 2006 Skid Plate on my 2005 SR5, the installation took some adjustments, but it looks good. Here is the picture.

Actually I just moved from Orlando to Tampa, last month because of my job.

the V6 logo is from a current highlander, and the and the vvt-i emblem is the same one you can find on eBay for like 10 bucks.

My mom lives in St. Pete so I do get to visit at least once a year and this year I'll be hitting the Grand Prix in April.

I don't know about you, but the last time I checked. Southern California wasn't located in Florida. But maybe i'm wrong......

I'm considering this for my 03 4runner. I've searched ebay for the tacoma skid plate, and in the process found one listed to fit the 4runner. Any idea what the difference between this and the Tacoma? It looks to me like they just made some custom brackets and sell it as a kit, but I'm not sure on that.

The brackets are made specifically for the 4Runner. These came out a while after I had done mine. I am sure these are much more stable.
