Tailgate issues

Went to open up my tailgate today. Window rolled down, pulled the lock up and lifted the handle and... Nothing. Gave the gate as little jiggle and tried again... Nothing. Both latches are not operating. Anyone else have this problem. Too cold and wet today to be removing the panel to see what went wrong. Any suggestions? I`m thinking it just needs a little Jig-a-loo.

I had the same problem and nobody here knew wtf.. this is what was wrong with mine:

1. You'll have to take the panels off and get the tailgate open.

2. Then wiggle the latches back and forth with your fingers over and over to loosen them up, then spray them with PB Blaster.

3. Problem solved

The latches? which ones? the ones on both sides of the tailgate which actually keep the tailgate closed.

Yeah the side latches that keep the tailgate closed are not operating.

They're resisting the cable pull when you lift up on the handle.
