Yes, mine look similar. I also have a good few chunks out of the tread but not anything extremely horrible. I think the type of terrain we drive on like the gravel roads, loose rock, rocky hill climbs and so forth will cause what we're seeing on any tire whether it's designed for this stuff or not. Considering the amount of stress we put theses tires though I'm pleased. Imagine what they would look like if you bought 150 dollar tires. Might have already punctured one by now.

Yea I assume its more prone to happen as they are new too. Atleast I imagine as there is more to grab leverage wise. This is my first MT that I have put through this kind of torture so I wasn't sure what to expect. All you guys chiming in puts me at ease though. Previously the only wear my tires saw was from burnouts

x2 on Nate and JWaldz comments. I liked my MTZ's a lot though, regardless of sidewall chunking - just like any other tire. Like JWaldz said, imaging what a $150 tire would look like? Also... Imagine what a tire with no sidewall or beefed up tread would look like? All tires will chunk offroad; tsl's, ssr's, boggers, pitbulls, iroks, MTZ's, KM2's, name it, but they'll still perform!

Shitty tires lead to blown rear diffs and turning rocks black in my experience. Not sure about chunking though :biggrin1:. But considering the trade off I'll take chunking haha. By the way, totally jelly of your SAS. Too bad I need like a million things first:moping:

Who cares if they look like hell as long as they're safe and hook up.

In other words I just bumped my toytec eibach coils (tundra billies) up to the second notch and I should have done this from the get go. Originally they sat at 23" hub to fender when I first put them on but had sagged to 22.5" maybe less. Now they are up near 23.5" which only puts me a half inch off the rear! Finally level! My CV angle doesn't look too bad either. I will be posting pics after class dont :flamethrwoer2: me!

let me know how yours do at this, i originally had mine here and one of my struts developed a leak... im not sure if the shock was just bad from day one or if it was from the eibachs being on the second perch -either way the 5100s have a lifetime warranty so dont worry about it too much, just make sure when you send them back to bilstien you say they came off a tundra... but yeah im replacing both of my 5100s as the last shop to work on my truck put the struts back on the 4th notch, second from the top not second from the bottom and that killed both of them in like 2000 miles. so im gonna go back to the second notch(from the bottom) on the struts and put a 3/4 top plate spacer on to help with all my extra weight like winch and skids ect. sending the truck off to the dealer this afternoon to get the entire front end rebuild, should have it back monday night or tuesday... gonna be a long weekend :moping: but it should be so nice when i get it back. but yeah keep an eye out and let me know how they are doing

So years later I finally took pics with the updated stance. It may not seem like much in the pic but in person its a huge difference. The bumper seems much higher standing next to it. And I rub less! Well none now that I finally smashed my pinch weld back.:AK47:






Also got my first bit of rock rash on my rims. May not seem like much, but I'm proud of my girl

Thanks man! I haven't actually been out to Clayton yet. Its always been in the back of my head but every time I think about going I end up going to disney instead. Although Disney is getting a little boring to be honest. I've done most of the crap that wont risk serious body damage and the rest is just ridiculous hillclimbs (like pinball hill). If I ever bring the truck back from Colorado I might have to head down there or towards where you are. Looks like some fun wheeling.

Regarding the locker: I've got an Aussie in the rear of my 80 that was installed by the PO. I'm in the same boat, it's pretty much invisible and I expected a lot worse from it to be honest. I do wish I could turn it off though. I like to try things open and then push the "escape" button to get me out of trouble if needed. The true test for this locker will be in the winter though, I'm worried about side-hills/off camber in the snow. I've already hit one too many trees....

I agree with the locker on/off thing. Although I don't really mind it. I just go for harder lines and generally have more fun. Snow will be an experience though. I've already had some moments on wet rock where it crabbed around. Not a huge deal, just have to learn how to drive again! I cant wait to try it out with 35s (hopefully another set of MTZs this summer!).

Last weekend I hit a little milestone in the truck. Then as a celebration we went wheeling of course. All the common places were closed down so we ended up running deadman road over to bald mountain. It was muddy as crap in places and rocky later on. Unfortunately I didnt get many pics of the mud holes because nobody wants to get out in mud up to their knees haha. But I got some later on. First snow/night wheeling of the year (it was only a dusting though).

Haha I enjoyed the mud rally and I'm not sure what was muddier in the end.... the outside of my truck or the inside... crazy dogs.

And I'm pretty sure 90% of that mileage was put on trying to find an open trail that day!

Rock Lights

I just finished up my rock lights setup. Here's what I ended up using. Shoutout to [MENTION=24143]BlairB[/MENTION] whose setup I pretty much copied. Only problem I had was that all the fuses I had on hand are 15A and they definitely aren't big enough. They heat up and fry in about 2 minutes. So once I get some bigger ones it should be good to go.

6x Harbor Freight Lights
40A relay
New OTRATTW Rock Lights Switch (new 3 Switch holder too)
Wire, tons of it.

Also during this project I finally wired up the lower LED of my OTRATTWs. For this I used the cigarette lighter light considering I broke the housing a while ago doing my LED swap.
