i was messing around with it last week and both VSC and TRAC automatically turn back on over 30 mph. (even if you came to a stop and held down the button for 3 seconds; the only way to turn off both.)Pretty sure you can disable the VSC and TRAC over 30 of you come to a complete stop first, then hold the button for the ~3 seconds to turn them off.

Reactivation of the TRAC (TRC)/VSC systems (4WD models)
If the TRAC (TRC)/VSC systems are turned off, the systems will not turn on
even when vehicle speed increases.
I'm running Goodyear Duratracs with studs in the winter, but I would also recommend what I run the other 3 seasons which is the BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA KOs. Very quiet, smooth, proven and 3 ply sidewalls as well. They are 'snowflake' symbol rated so are considered a 'winter traction tire' here in Oregon. I have used them in snow many times over the years on several different vehicles and they are excellent in the snow. But in our very water content dense "Cascade Cement" snow we get here in Oregon, the roads turn to ice quite frequently after being driven on and there is no substiute for the metal studs when the weather is serious crossing the Cascade mountains on our way to our cabin in central Oregon. Or here in Portland for that matter when it does snow.
. My only disappointment with the TE is that it doesn't have a center diff and full time 4wd.

Is there a better tire pressure for snow driving in addition to all the drivetrain settings? Or is the recommended road pressure (for your tire) good enough. Just wondering if anyone is making this adjustment when out in snow.

I second that !!
follow-up to my previous post: messed with it again today and VSC & TRAC stayed off. i held the button down for a solid four-count. not sure if that was it/what was different from the previous time, but it stayed off well past 45 mph (which is too fast for the dirt road I was on anywayi was messing around with it last week and both VSC and TRAC automatically turn back on over 30 mph. I do not feel comfortable with my 11 TE (ON ROADS) that are snow covered. if i am running 4x4 hi then Im fine with it . Off road I am very comfortable getting through most anything.
Sometimes I wonder though where the ideas for stuff comes from and why Toyota would think this is what they(consumers) want .
said heck with this I need to make time (because of my job) and be confident doing it so I have just been throwing it in 4hi. I feel better then.
