TEujunga's Toytec front lift install

I realize this is small potatoes to more experienced and advanced members, but I figure I can't be the only newbie with modest technical skills who is attempting a common mod for the first time. If there are already 4,937 threads just like this, then I apologize for the clutter -- I just feel like sharing a little "woot" moment.

Installed a set of Toytec Ultimate coilovers today. Did an initial pre-install lean check, and found the driver's side to be about 1/4" high. Set one of the Toytecs 1/8" higher than the other, and put the high one on the passenger side.

Started the install on passenger side, which was harder by far because the LCA wouldn't drop enough without detaching KDSS sway bar link, and I didn't have the tools to easily bring it back into alignment with the bolt holes upon reassembly. Tried lots of different techniques and got so flustered that I don't even remember exactly what worked, but it got done.

Driver's side was much easier, as the LCA dropped more than far enough without detaching the sway bar. Tricky for me to thread the heavy coilover assembly up through the thicket of tie rods, half shafts, control arms, etc.

Took about 6 hours altogether with some aches and pains -- I'm not as agile as I used to be! Started the engine with trepidation, but no warning lights came on. Drove it around some and then did a measurement -- 23.75" from the center of the wheel cap to the wheel arch top on each side. Nailed it on the first try!

Now it sits really front-high, but that will be remedied tomorrow when the Eibach T13s and Bilstein 5100s arrive.

Thanks to members who previously provided helpful tips, especially eddiebx with his step-by-step instructions (not all of which I followed religiously, alas).

If all goes well with the rear install, I'll post more on this thread tomorrow!

Thanks for reading...

Congrats on the install, the rear will be cake. I remember being there and it's such a good feeling to knock out some solid work on the truck!

Good job and thanks for the post! I already have 5100s ready to install and tonight I just ordered the same ultimate front adjustable coil kit to add to it so I can be more precise in setting the front height to match the T13s I have ready to go also. Looking forward to your updates.

My rear was a pain in the ass with the Metal Tech 4x4 Long travel setup. i had to use spring compressors to squeeze them in...

Nice work! I'm installing a similar set up this weekend. My skills are modest as well but I feel pretty confident doing this install.

Rear install today - Wheeler Eibach T13 springs and Bilstein 5100 shocks.

Took about 5 hours with a few goofs along the way, but nothing serious.

Front was still too high after rear spring install so I took two full turns each out of the Toytec coilovers. Result is door sills that are exactly level, although rocker panels still have a slight negative rake. May take one more turn out of the Toytecs at some point.

Test drive included a detour through a muddy vacant lot :)

Tomorrow is tires and alignment. Then I'll be ready for some wheelin'! Hope to have more photos to post!
