The 3.4L TRD Supercharger Thread

I don't have that piece, so where can I get that ? Sorry to be such a pain

Soo... I've come across now the second stripped thread on my supercharger (not my fault). The bolt and spacer in question fell off. I found the bolt but the spacer I'm afraid is long gone. Was stripped since day one, but was secure enough to stay in place until I took the supercharger off to rebuilt and tried to put it back on.

How essential do you think this is? With the engine running it doesn't move around much.

can you drill and tap for a larger bolt?

Hope this helps someone someday.

Anyway to get these hoses in black? I was looking on and didn't see an option to get black?

yeah just go to your auto parts store, they have them in long lengths that cut to size and pay for what you need. do it. its the easiest.

so make a list of what you need, make a run to the parts store then come back and install.

I've gone to auto zone and advanced auto parts and none of them carried them

Really? That's odd.

Try this: take a hose of somewhere else in the engine that fits the nipple (or is slightly larger) or from one of your other cars and take it to the parts store. Have them match it with the closest size they have. If it's a little big, just buy some hose clamps and call it good.

That's exactly what I did... Worked out... I think the smaller hose is a weird size though... So go to toyota for that one.

I just added my catch can, pretty easy once I figured out where I wanted it. Just mounted it on the side of the fan shroud and it's secure. No more oil in the intake!

So I hear people mentioning getting a walbro 190 fuel pump, but are they all the same being universal? Or do I need to find a toyota fit one?

Looks clean! What brand of catch can?

I bought a cheap one from China. It doesn't have filters like the more expensive ones but still will help a lot:

I think it's Gadget who researched the fuel pumps. It doesn't do a whole lot for fuel delivery unless you are running larger injectors, might want to read his stuff before buying one. Turns out the 4Runner pump isn't all that bad.

Many SC 3.4l are on the road today on stock fuel pumps without additional fuel mod systems. For those who occasionally and briefly operate in the "pinging sweet spots" it been apart of their SC experience without concern for the cause and effect while running on a OEM pump only.

Many of us know the consequences and have added fueling modifications to lessen the pinging and/or damage to our engines.

I agree with gamefreakgc, when adding the larger injectors ( Supra, URD 6th injector kit) and/or an additional injector (URD 7th injector kit) as suggested; one should run a larger fuel pump such as the Walbro 190.

It's also good to see the use of an oil catch can. We too have one installed and have used them exclusively in our SC applications where applicable. IMO, it's a warranted mod not suggested enough.

thanks guy! im thinking with ether going with a meth injection kit or do the larger 305 injectors and a 190 FP.

where are you getting gauge pillar pods?

You're welcome shootmymime

The simplicity of a methenol water injection system, such as Devils Own or others, is an excellent alternative choice for an economical effective fueling system. Its progressive controller working independently; is what makes for a less evasive installation by not having to splice into your Ecu harness.

The right amount of 116 octane methanol spray during boost, will help with high/low rpm torque ping, increase performance and intake cooling.

The desert southwest summer temps, quite often sustain temperatures of 105-115 degrees for weeks. This coupled with an already heat soaked S/C made this addition a no brainer for our application.

I will throw out a word of caution, often the extra added burst of power has been known to blow head gaskets while consistently hitting the rev limiter faster than you can lift off the go pedal and all that it implies.

Becareful and responsible unless your willing to rebuild. If rebuilding is not an issue, it's a very effective way to go KaBoom. Lol

Lastly, I believe we purchased our dual pillar gauge pod from Lotek.

How do you like the Devil's Own kit? I was looking at their stuff and the price is nice, but heard that others like Coolingmist/AEM are better quality.

yeah i plan on installing mine on monday. so everyone please be attentive this weekend and monday in case we have questions.

Well I finally installed my SC this weekend. Everything went pretty much well. I only ran into some minor issues but nothing I couldn't handle. She runs darn good. I have not noticed any pinging but then again I haven't really pounded on the throttle "yet".

I gaped my Denso IK22 plugs to .032. So far running well.
I installed a Glowshift Boost gauge along with a Trans Temp gauge - to go along with my new trans cooler.
Still waiting for my Glowshift Wideband AFR gauge to arrive.

Fun Fun Fun!:frog:

We chose the Devils Own kit to address heat soak while cooling the intake. I only wish our controller allowed us to spray prior to 2psi. At the time of purchase, we had two controller choices either activated by MAF or boost signal. Hindsight being such, I believe the MAF signal would have allowed for an earlier spray. Which could have supplemented our URD fuel timing parameters by adding an 116 octane spray at the right time.

Having said that, we chose Devils Own for the purpose of cooling the intake. For which its does at a lesser price then the competition. Had we been looking to address fueling issues using a water methenol system, I might have chose a different system after further research. But as you mentioned " the DO price is nice"

We have not had any issues with the pump or electronics. Yet we did have the very small and fragile boost teet snapped off the controller. DO did replace it after the warranty had expired for a minimum cost.

Hope this helps ...... Regards 8sm
