The 3.4L TRD Supercharger Thread

Sounds way overpriced.
that is cheaper than my 150k mile 99 1 owner... and closer... wish I waited now... hmmp

prices are crazy, these 4 runners have had a demand increase lately... everybody wants them and no one wants to sell them cheap.

Supwrcharger is installed! Next is the 7th injector system. I bought a used unit. I have no idea if a stock or modded map on it. How and what do I need to get the stock map on the calibration unit?

So I have done a couple test runs with the Supercharger. I only have the Supercharger and two step colder IK22 plus installed and gaped to .043. At ~4000 rpm it seems like I get spark plug blowout. Why are these plugs gaped so much? I have yet to install the rest of the 7th kit btw.

7th shouldn't matter, what makes you think you are getting spark blow out?

When the rig is under load at ~4000 rpm the engine acts like it cuts off all of a sudden. Most power is lose. As soon as it drops back in rpm the power comes back to life. Was taking to a car friend of mine and I was mentioning that I have that helix snorkel and that I thought the rubber tube was closing in on itself under the pressure( going to remove and do the test again). He said it sounded like I was suffering from spark blowout as the gap is so wide. In fact he has never seen a gap so large before.

Yeah there is no way in hell you are pulling enough vacuum to collapse the intake tube.

You don't have that UrD box wired yet do you?

No sir, only the charger and the IK22 plugs are installed. Also that snorkel tube is rubber so it can collapse upon itself. Plan of action is...

-Remove the tube and run a fake snorkel in the mean time. If this does not cure the issue I will re-gap to .032.

I'm planning on installing the 7th injector and URD box by the end of this week.

The reason I asked about the URD box is because you said "the rest" either.

And unless that is the most flexible rubber known to man it isnt going to collapse....

From what I've read recently(and I'm putting in IK22s tonight or tomorrow) is most keep theirs gapped at .032 with good results, so that's my plan.

Yeah that's a good piont hard to tell though without a wideband. Do you have one?

Don't have one but it is in the shopping cart. I removed the rubber tubing and did a test run. 2nd gear up to ~4500 rpm and no cut out so I beleive I found that issue. Now a new one, po171 popped up as a pending code. :)

i would get a 171 code for about 2 weeks after i installed my SC, its the computer learning what to do with the new amount of air its receiving. just clear it and keep driving.

If you pull the EFI fuse/relay (can't remember which one, I just pull both) it'll allow the ECU to adjust for the air flow much quicker. A P0171 normally points to a bad O2 sensor or vacuum leak though, so it's worth at least checking especially if you had just done engine work prior to the code.

After more thought and listening to it I might have a boost leak. Full boost is a little above 5 boost and I have a strange noise coming from around the charger (or it the charger itself). Where is it common to have a boost leak on these things?

Most common leaks are the hoses coming off the back of the supercharger, especially if you have the 7th injectior connected from a t fitting or something like that. Most likely one is cracked, loose or mis-routed. I once accidentally swapped the fuel and vacuum hoses (oops).

Other than that, only thing left that could leak is at the plenum gasket. If it was new, then not really sure what else might do it.
