Hey guys, posting for my brother who lives in Portland, OR.
He switched it into 4WD during the snow a while back and hasn't been able to get it to switch back since. He has taken it to a few shops who have quoted him various prices, all expensive, and no for certain remedies.
I am here in TN, and got him to try all the different things I can find here on the forum, but he isn't so mechanically inclined that I see him opening up the transfer case.
I am pretty sure its the transfer case motor, and those are $$$$.
So my questions are:
Does anyone know of the best shop to take it in Portland, OR?
Does anyone have a transfer case motor they'd be willing to part with or know a trick to get it to switch it back to 2WD manually?
Does the actuator make a sound like it wants to do its thing? If so, have someone hit the AWD button while he is underneath. Gently tap, tap, tap on the actuator with a rubber mallet or the butt end of a hammer while the dash lights flash. Hopefully he'll hear a clunk and it'll pop out. Drive forward and back a couple times while the dash lights are blinking and it might pop out too?
