Hey hoping y'all can guide me to the right solution as I haven't seen anyone yet after searching the forums who has had this problem. Got a problem I created for myself. Not particularly handy in general but thought I could handle this since it seemed pretty straightforward.
1998 3.4 SR5 LTD 210k miles. I recently took out the stock radio and put in a touch screen one with airplay so I wouldn't have to fiddle with wires etc. (not sure if it matters but heres the link to the radio

1996 - 2002 Toyota 4runner Stereo Install and Backup Camera - YouTube). The one error I realized (I'm sure there are some I haven't realized) in hindsight was I didn't unplug the battery before getting started.
The radio lit up and everything looked good but when I started the car up the engine immediately rev'd up to 3k RPM and climbing. I've left it running for 15-20 seconds and it seems to just keep creeping up, let it go to 5k (hoping things would resolve) before turning the engine off. I've started it couple more times and same issue. I unplugged the new radio completely and the problem remains. Looked around the forums/internet searches and hoped it was the EFI fuse so unplugged that for 30 min and that didn't solve it. I'm guessing I shorted something or blew a fuse but at a loss as to where to start troubleshooting.
