What is the exhausts exact size for adding a exhaust tip?

I have a 01 4runner SR5. I’m super confused with the inlet and outlet. I see some people saying 2.25 then 2.5. Idk what it is. Someone says the exhaust tip expands which makes it 2.5.

Trying to get an aftermarket exhaust tip.

Well that last piece is just a bracket, I ended up cleaning and painting mine. For discontinued hoses, you can get generic vacuum hoses and cut to length.

Used or make your own. A "P" clip with a rubber liner will work for the front of the manifold. A bent flat bar of aluminum will work for the other (with a few holes and some zip ties).

Help With P0440

Hey all, Upon two hours of owning my 01 4runner, I was met with a check engine light. Scanning reveals that it's a P0440 so I went ahead and replaced all gaskets on top of the gas tank along with the Overfill Check Valve. The old gaskets were all cracked and old OCV also had a crack. Cleared all codes and enjoyed no check engine light for two days. Driving this afternoon, I look down and find that the light has come back on. Ive read that I should inspect the charcoal canister as well as the "pressure switching valve". Anybody have any other recommendations on what else I should check out? I've replaced the gas cap already so all good there. Thank you!

Hello all, I have a 1997 toyota 4runner it came with a Fob and the clip part brok off, I want to replace it but already bought a wrong one. I dont have a security light and I cannot find the RS3000 but it seems like i must have one if i have a fob. The FCC ID on the original fob is ELVAT5B. does anyone have any insight on what to replace it with?

O2 Sensors - To Cali or not to Cali

Long time lurker, first time poster. I wasn't able to find this answer with a search. I think it's a bit tricky.

I posted in the introduction thread. Not sure how many replies I need to create a post, so I'll just post this here for now...

2000, automatic, 4x4 4Runner SR5 with the P0420 error code (no engine light.) Mileage is crap. Averaging around 11. 12 if most of it is freeway.

The local stealership ran the VIN and says I need the Denso 234-4154 (8946539855) non-California, downstream sensor and a 234-4162 (8946580034) up. But when I crawled underneath, I saw 2 cats. The door jam says nothing about California, but the placard underneath the hood does say she conforms to EPA and California regulations. Cali-compliant would normally call for the 234-4153 down.

Or is the difference simply wire length and maybe connector?

I found a post that has the 4154 at 12.91" and 4153 at 17.72"

The rig currently resides in Oregon, but my daughter may take 'er to College in California in a year and a half or so. AND... I don't know which of these sensors may or may not make the engine run as best it can.

My only option is to remove the sensor when my daughter's away on spring break and hope I can find a number on it. That is unless someone here has the right answer...

In the meantime... my searches continue...

When I run my VIN on the Denso site, it offers me 3 upstream options and 4 down.

Do you know if there is any difference besides cable length?

CA vs. Fed emissions have completely different front sensors (narrow band vs. AFR sensor) for '99/'00 years. All 01/02 use the same sensors (50-state emissions) and all '96-'98 use the same sensors.

Use the CA emissions compliant front AFR sensor if you have 2 cats.

But I'm a bit confused. I was only planning to replace the O2 sensors. Is the front sensor (at the bend just ahead of the pre-cat) actually an AFR? Or...?

Most of the time the squeak is the entire stroke, but occasionally it's the bottom or top half. I removed the spring to make sure that wasn't causing issues. My next step is to remove the master cylinder and see if the squeak is still present.

Yes, it is an AFR sensor. Looks externally like a normal O2 sensor, but it is more advanced. Not quite a modern full wideband sensor, but it works pretty well. Replacing both the front AFR and rear O2 sensors should be part of chasing down P0420 problems... Even if it just to save the new cats you might have to install.

There will be a number of OEM part numbers - they are different RWD vs. 4WD and CA vs. Fed emissions (and then there are 4-cylinder options in there...). RWD vs. 4WD are clip locations (nothing serious), but the CA vs. Fed front sensor is critical.

So you're basically saying the stealer gave me the wrong part numbers for both... by going off the VIN. Unless the tech would've caught it, it sounds like, if I had them do the job, they would've installed the wrong parts, eh?

so I'm having an issue with my power locks. whenever it rains or the car gets wet, the locks seem to actuate-themselves. when im driving or when its sitting, the car will lock and unlock itself, setting off the horn alarm.

everything I found is related to door actuators themselves, etc. however this only happens when the car gets wet. any thoughts?
