What to do about my lift kit

Hey all,

I recently bought a 2000 4runner with a lift that was installed back in 2015. Lift details: Front coils are from a 2004 Tundra TRD. Front and back shocks are the Bilstein 5100s. The rear coils are from a 1995 FZJ-80 Land Cruiser.

My issue is the front is noticeably lower than the back with the front drivers side an inch lower than the passenger side. The drivers side tire is rubbing a ton when you turn left. The front coils don't look broken but the front shocks look like they're leaking.

What do you guys recommend? Do I buy new 5100s and rebuild the front assembly using the 2004 Tundra coils? I would love to put the 33s I bought with it on it, but they would rub right now due to the front end sag. Also, there is a steel bumper with winch on the front as well as a steel skid plate adding additional weight.

so my wheels and tires are getting too heavy for this old bad back. I do winter wheels and tires as well as summer. Anyone have a recommendation for a lifting tool. Several on scamazon but wondered if anyone has a preference

I think most of the tire jacks/lifts were designed for tires heavier than T4R tires, so most of them should work fine and last for a few years, I would say get the one that seems to suit your idea of how it works, build quality and your budget.

true but these summer ko2s are killing me on swap outs.....side note...when these ko2s e rated give out...i will replace with something better and dont need to be e rated anymore....just got used to them on all the back roads of oregon and rocks and stuff. the e rated for puncture resistance...dont do much of that up here

I know the feeling, my regular size Michelins are more than I care to lift at my age, If I know I'm going to be removing any tires I usually go over to my sons house or invite him over and let him do all the lifting!! LOL

How high up do you need to lift them?
Would a set of car dollys lift high enough to put on?

99 tall - same spring both front left/right?

hi all - trying to get the 99 tall springs. it looks like 48131-35350 (the left) spring is discontinued. online it says that 48131-35400 can be used for both left and the right side. is this true?

power lock and key fob programing issues

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm unable to create my own post yet.

Hi, I tried searching everywhere but have not found anything that could help me solve an issue with my power locks and programing a key fob.

I just purchased a 2002 4runner and it came with 2 key fobs that did not work, I thought it was just the batteries so I tried to change them out but no luck. I decided to purchase new key fobs that was recommended from a few threads. I followed instructions and successfully got the car into programming mode but when I tried clicking the key fobs, nothing happened. I did check under the hood on the passenger side and it does have the module I saw that would indicate it supports keyless entry.

I tried the "alternate" method of getting into programming mode where you had to click unlock/lock on the door 5x times and a few other things, that's when I found another problem. When I press the unlock/lock button it would work the first 2 times but it would slowly get weaker and weaker to the point where I would hear the click on all the doors trying to "lock/unlock" but the locks themselves aren't actually moving. The button would work again after not touching it for like a minute. I took a video and uploaded it below:

3RZ experts, I need some help. My 1996 Hilux Surf has a pulsing hiss coming from somewhere near the #4 intake, and I can't figure out what it might be. I've checked all the vacuum lines and even sprayed some brake cleaner trying to find a leak, but couldn't find anything.

I've only noticed it after the engine is warmed up and at idle. I took this short video to better show what I'm talking about, let me know if you have any ideas.

Sounds like its near the EGR? Try carb cleaner or starter fluid rather than brake fluid to see if it revvs up when you spray. You can also try one of those kits that make some mineral oil smoke and blows it into the intake (with engine off) to see where it leaks out.

Not a bad suggestion, and yeah, I should have used something other than brake clean... but, I don't have an EGR! JDM spec motor didn't come with one...

Lift the door lock physically by hand when locking and unlocking. The motor for lock and unlock mechanism might be worn out.

Throw a 1/2 spacer on the driver side when using the same size springs.

While there is no "prime" function on the 4Runner (or most/all Toyotas of that era), the fuel system is a return-type - which means fuel is cycling back to the tank whenever the fuel pump is running (cranking or while the engine is running). If you have 100% dry fuel injectors, it takes about 10-15 seconds of cranking to fill them up with fuel. The rails and lines fill up faster than that. No 'air' can get stuck in the lines.

You have an issue elsewhere.

That is very good to know, thank you for that. However, when I reopened the fuel line after multiple 5-10 second start attempts, very little fuel has made its way up.. bottom line is, to continue troubleshooting whatever it is, I have to securely replace the engine bay fuel connection. I have new 14mm tube nuts but had to cut the line to get the old one off.. I tried a double flaring tool but there is not enough of a perfectly straight run of piper to get it perfect enough.. any tips on connecting the cut hard line with some flexible hose or something to secure this connection would be great. Thx

I know the feeling! The 35s on the landcruiser are stupid heavy. I taught my daughter to use the tops of her thighs or tops of her feet to lift heavy tires onto the lugs. She usually uses her thighs, but I use the tops of my feet.

So basically lean the wheel against the hub, sit on the ground, then scooch your legs around the tire so that you're facing the wheel. Then lift with your thighs while using your hands to rotate the wheel a little for the lug studs to come through. This will take a little practice but it'll go fast.

Try this to see if things get a little easier while saving your back.

I use a 3' wrecking bar with a right angle on one end. Position tire about right, paying some attention to the holes for the lugs, get the angled end under the tire (little lean and gentle kicks), lower high end of the bar while guiding with the free hand. Not perfect, but better than me trying to throw my BFGs up there.

Advice or guidance needed

Hey y'all, I got a '97 SR5 V6 that I recently replaced the fuel filter after some bad gas caused it clog up on me on the road. After replacement the car is able to run for a bit but with a check engine light on before stalling again.
Unfortunately, my OBD2 scanner isn't able to link with the truck, and I noticed there was a constant small rattle coming from the engine bay when in ACC mode when trying to run the scanner.
Any thoughts as to why?
I'd really appreciate any input. Thanks.

It is, but the effort is often not worth the savings.
Rock Auto - a/c idler pulley

I had my idler bearing get noisy many years ago. I removed it, carefully popped out the seal on the bearing's side and cleaned it up with aerosol brake cleaner. Then I packed it full of a quality synthetic grease. It's been quiet ever since.

Ok, just pulled off the idler pulley and the bearing is not removable. Reinstalled it and will get a new pulley ordered. 2000 sr5, I don't know if this pulley is aftermarket or not.
