The 4Runner Wave - Flame WAR

I do not think the 4runner wave will ever catch on. most of them around here are soccer moms and do not really care about 4runners at all. when I drive my Jeep Wrangler I get Jeep waves all the time from other Wranglers. It is just like the Harley guys waving. It is only the Wranglers that wave. The grand Cherokee, Liberty and Patriot people are also soccer moms and do not have a clue unless their vehicle is modified.

It could catch on... most soccer moms are gradually shifting over towards the Highlander and other crossdressers.

Maybe just wave to modified 4Runners for now just to be safe.

If I only waved to modified 4runners then it would just be me and my buddy around here. In the desert in Lake Havasu city, Arizona Jeeps out number 4runners about 2000 to 1. What makes the Jeep wave popular is that they are easily recognizable from a distance and it is easy for the driver to stick his hand out and wave when the top is off. A Tacoma and 4runner look similar from the front and by the time you realize it was a 4runner he is already past you. I notice people with new 4 door Wranglers do not wave much. They are generally soccer moms to.

around here we do have couple youngians with 4runners ( Me included).
a couple soccer moms...
but most are old people (60+), who are "snowbirds" and they keep it in the garage, and only drive it when they are in town. its depressing to know they dont know the capability the 4runner has.

btw another video is coming, i just keep forgetting to do it. but i keep filming so they will all add up and make like a 60 second video! thats like 15 waves!

Wave (attempt), #2. This lady didn't even flinch on her cell phone.

(I was actually waving at her with my other hand.. too busy gabbing on the phone to notice me...)

I usually only get Jeep waves in my Wrangler when they are coming toward me on the road or at stop lights. Seldom when passing someone. They are not expecting it then. You do not have to try to motivate them to do it in a Jeep, it just is a natural thing that happens. Also going 70 mph down interstate people are in a hurry and not noticing 4runners.

Thats whats up. I try not to yell either but sometimes it happens. lol. Damn phone mic's are a lot more sensitive than I thought .... Still looking for that elusive wave back...

(Said in Elmer Fudd voice)
Those wascally 4runners...hahahahaha

I have tried doing the wave where i live at...usually its all soccer moms and older people. Half of them just wonder why you are waving at them

yeah there are alot of 4runners here, i only films about 1/5 of what i see, cause usually i am not ready, or its not at a safe moment.

as for the wave back.... ooooh i cant wait! i just hope i get it on camera!

btw, im going to start using my actual camera here soon, or maybe ill get one of those flip thingies. but better quality will be soon.

ive also noticed, that since i have made the same 200 mile highway travel everyday this week, i see alot of the same 4runners. i think there is actually the same one twice in the video, on two different days. but the quality isnt good enough to be sure. the white one, with stickers on the back bottom corners. but it seems like on one of them, the front window is tinted, and on the other its not. hmmmmmm. window down maybe? ill have to slow it down.

So basically whoever gets a wave back wins?

I noticed the ones who are "aware" of other 4runners are the ones who have any sort of modifications done.

I drove on base today and one of the squids (sailor) said what year is your 4runner i said a 99 he said he had a 97 and we were just talking about 4 runners while i was at the gate. he was checking my id so people were behind me waiting. so anyways i drove off then stopped turned around and yelled "this is the 4runner wave (4 fingers) so wave to
4runners, some wont wave back but keep doing it" So i informed someone else haha

This is sad:

Driving home after work, I noticed a guy wave at me. In a moment of confusion I thought "why?"

And as he passed me going the opposite way I realized......a fellow 4runner owner.

Gun metal gray
Probably a V8

I am going to jump on the 4 finger 4Runner wave bandwagon. Maybe the folks in NY/NJ will be more receptive! I highly doubt it though :redbrick:
