The Leaking Sun Roof........

This is to document my leak from the sunroof of our 96 SR5.

It doesn't open or close and its in the closed position.

My wife called me at work to tell me the floor on drivers side is wet after a down pour and so is the head liner above seat..

I gained access to the front drivers drain tube and it blows free.

So discovering that and real doissapointed I looked up and it sure looks like the leak origonated from the rear drivers side of the sunroof.

I'm in the process of removing rusty bolts to get the pumper section off under the gas cap area......

I had similar problems with a wet headliner and my Sunroof also does not open.

Fished out both front drain tubes (from inside the truck) from behind the kick panels and blew back up them with an air compressor. Then found the right rear (outside the truck) and used the air compressor on that tube as well. The left rear is more difficult to get to - I haven't tried yet - please take some pics.

I know I still have a leak where the seam is - in the trim around the glass of the sunroof. I'm surprised how much water can drip through it. Getting ready to hit it with some: Amazon.com: Permatex 81730 Flowable Silicone Windshield and Glass Sealer, 1.5 oz.: Automotive

I've read on this site that you can pull the glass out by removing the black plastic trim and then removing the 6 screws - but I haven't tried this yet.

I confirmed all 4 tubes are clear. The front I blew through my self. The two rears I used compressed air.

The drivers side rear is behind the rear side bumper piece. It was a bugger getting off. Rusted bolts and such.

I put a garden hose to the glass in flood and got water on my seat. I tried getting my wife to stand on the running board and flood the glass with water and it was typical reaction. Impatient, and wouldn't stand on the running board. I was inside with a flashlight and I didn't overflow while I was watching.

I saw screws that look like if I remove them the glass will lift out. There are 4 brackets each has 2 screws, one Philips and one torqued.

If those screws will allow me to remove the glass it will get a new gasket. That should make it happy again.

Looking at the head liner and the drivers sun visor its leaked before............
