Just ordered a rack this past weekend after reading all the posts.

Sorry if I missed this...does anyone have tips and tricks for installing the rails? I've heard I need to be careful when taking the OEM rack off so the nuts don't fall into the top of the headliner. (I really don't want to have to remove the headliner. I'm not very mechanically inclined, but my husband claims to be.)

I just bought a 2019 ORP, and it's my first T4R. 5k miles and I'm loving it.

I can honestly say this has never been a concern for me... I took the stock rails off several times, and I am now on my second LFD Roof Rack without this being an issue.. :shrug:

...I guess you just don't want to put any weight on the bolts unless they are all the way down the threads.

Just don't push down while removing or installing the bolts and you'll be fine. Don't over think it!

On a slightly different note, I bought a 2012 Salsa Red Trail a couple weeks back.

Planning on making this "new" Trail my primary vehicle and moving my wife into my '16 Trail because she needs a bigger vehicle than her current car. I've always loved the early Trails' looks the best out of all the 5th Gens, so figured it was a perfect time to find one.

This does mean we will be working on hybrid front bumpers for the early 5th gens this fall

PS anyone want to buy a used Gobi rack? That thing's coming off soon as I get it over to the office haha.

Remove both bolts by loosening each a little and go back and forth. If you remove one and then try to break the other loose, it will cause the bracket to come undone and you'll have the issue you are concerned about.

That's a good point that I never really thought about, we've always broken all the bolts loose first before removing any of them.

Once you get all the bolts off and it is ready to lift off, it will be easier with a helper to remove it. Doable with one but a little bit of a hassle.

got mine a couple of weeks ago. just waiting for the weather and schedule to cooperate for the install. It took 20 days from order to shipment. Well worth the wait. Great customer service as well.

Finally got a tag this morning for the "new" Trail and got it over to the office. Full rack and one of our new gas tank skids installed to finish out the skid set.

13 days to go until Appalachian Toyota Roundup. Still on the to-do list: winch, suspension and tires, rack organization (storage box, tools, etc), rear drawers, air compressor, snorkel, and lights. Who else is crazy enough to start a new build two weeks prior?

Congrats! Great to hear you’ll be working on some bumpers for it. My 2013 Trail and I will be watching what you come up with. Will be ordering some crossbars hopefully this weekend.

ME!!! Remember that time I threw together suspension and a full set of LFD skid plates before running off to Moab. :rofl: :crazy:

Finished putting on the stainless steel crossbars this weekend. Wasn't too hard but I will say I wish I had installed the wind fairing AFTER I put the cross bars on. Was difficult tightening the front bolt with the wind fairing on lol. Other than that, loving the bars!

We have some approximate weights, the rear is about 230, full front is about 120. Both weights without any accessories on them

I'm looking forward to this!!!! Got pictures of everything buttoned up with the hidden winch mount for the '14+ bumper? I just want to see if I can still have my LED bar hidden in my lower front grill or if that has to go.

Yep. that is the LFD Hidden Winch Mount.

We put that on a little over a week ago. I have pics and a YouTube video coming of the install. I just need a couple spare hours to edit it and post it up.
