The LFD Off Road Thread

In case anyone is wondering, the ARB 2000 (2m) awning fits perfectly on the full length rack, and the 90 degree brackets space it out perfectly to the edge of the rack

Can you post a pic of how you have the brackets mounted?

Any wind noise from the awning?

Nice. I have the newer version of the 3/4 and will be researching awnings in preparation for next years beach trip to Carova, NC.

An ARB 2500 awning can fit on a 7/8... Not the greatest photo, but the closest truck has a LFD 7/8 rack and the (much) larger ARB 2500

The local 5.11 will have different events and ask our Toyota group for a few guys to park out front for a few hours. Awesome looking trucks there...

Question for people who have our racks (and if you don't as well I guess)

So, the question - Is the negative of needing two wrenches for installation, and a probable higher cost, worth it to people to get black hardware instead of the yellow zinc bolts? It would probably start as an option instead of making it a standard.

I'll probably install these on the rack sometime this week or next week to see what it looks like.

I just installed the 7/8 LFD rack a couple of weeks ago. Requiring 2 tools isn't that big of a deal. While I would love black bolts, I would prefer not paying an extra $60 for them. And I'm so indifferent that I haven't painted the ones that came with it.

I would be so broke parking in front of a 5.11 for a few hours... I love their stuff.

No additional wind noise from the awning; if the picture doesn't make it too obvious, I have a curved 40" light bar on top of my fairing, as well as a pair of lights for each side, so I'm used to a bit of wind noise...

When tightening down the 3 bolts per bracket that hold the bracket to the awning I ended up snapping one on each mount, which should be fine for now as ARB only requires a total of 4. I'm not sure what ARB's bolts are made out of, but the two that snapped were before they were fully tight and with a small 1/4" drive ratchet. They'll get replaced after this weekend.

Thank you! They are definitely spreading into the market lately. Our group (see link in sig) has absolutely amazing support through our local 5.11 store, and at a nationwide level, so we try to coordinate with them on a number of events there.

I plan to purchase the 3/4 version soon and will definitely want to add an awning, too. I like the look of the 4' ARB awning and it looks like it would match up well with the size of the 3/4.

Just a general announcement, we are actively working right now on switching our website platform. Not sure yet when the switch will go live, probably in the next two weeks. We should see an improved shopping cart and checkout process. I'll make more announcements when we have a set date for the switch.

I follow the FB page, might have to order one of the patches and add it to my headliner next to our RVA Toyota Trucks patch.

:dancin:

That ain't no lie. Fortunately they have offered a discount, thus far, for the 3 or 4 volunteers they ask for.

On the mobile phone site when you are selecting what product you want (i.e. Online Store, Toyota, 5th Gen 4Runner etc...) if you don't hurry it selects where you are at before you can select the next category. Maybe you can fix that? :-)

Hopefully that will be fixed, it bugs us too.

Some may say it's a bit large, but I think the sticker size is just right...

Hardware update - I think we actually found black colored stainless carriage bolts finally. Have a small batch ordered and on the way. I'm not getting too excited until they get here, but it looks promising.

Looks good. I have to get mine on there. How did you mount your lightbar? I have a similar bar, but the mounts it came with set pretty high. Your's looks pretty close to the fairing.

Add me to the list of people interested...

The mounts that came with mine (It's a SuperBrightLEDs curved 40") were stupidly high, what's on there are a set of generic aluminum L's (intended for 80/20-esque 15-series parts) that I found on Amazon... One of these days I'll move further with an attempt at notching the fairing and recessing the lightbar into it.

I would love to do that. Mine is a 32", and would look really nice recessed. I feel like the fairing might need to come down a little closer to the roof for it to look right though. Maybe not.

New Official Account

Good morning,

We have a new official account here, LFD_Off_Road. jafrush will remain an official account also for a while also, but we'll eventually remove the official status from that one and just have the one official account for the business.

We'll be doing most of the business related posts with the new LFD account.

( jafrush isn't going anywhere though! That's just my personal account, I had it from before the business).

It has been quite a while, but we've finally got our first parts coming off the new CNC Tube plasma! Anyone want to take a guess what it's for? :D
