This is a bit of a random question. Anybody have any 5th Gen wide crossbars or the integrated wind fairing crossbar on order from LFD and know what the wait time is these days?

They both show backordered and before I jakeleg myself for two months I'll look at another option if it's going to take forever to get them.

Anyone waiting right now?

I ordered my ruggedized bundle (steel) Jan 11th, they shipped Feb 8th and will arrive next week (shipping across the country).

Is it really that hard to print out some instructions and include it with the products? LFD isn't the only manufacturer that doesn't include instructions so not just complaining about LFD, others are guilty as well.

We actually have instructions for most products right now with the exception of the front bumpers.

We've had several different people back in shipping for about the past two months now between new employees, people filling in for others out sick and etc, and sometimes instructions get left out. Not a valid excuse but its what happens. We are working on trying to make sure everything gets them, and we are here to help if you have questions (I emailed with krhayes79 Wednesday night to answer his questions).

Understandable all the juggling it must take with the challenges in front of you. We all hope everyone’s health improves and all return strong!....
I’ve been waiting near 4 weeks to receive even a price quote on: Ruggedized Crossbar bundle; SKU: XLFOR002-Bundle.
Ticket was submitted Jan. 18,... on Feb. 01 I was told it would be quoted that day, and nothing since.
Was really hoping to get ahead of this knowing the production and shipping lead times that I may be up against being in Western Canada.
I hate to appear impatient, but is it known when I can expect a reply? I want no other product and hope to connect with someone soon. Thank you for your understanding.

Curved Faring Question

Has anyone else had problems with the new curved front wind faring (XLFOR017-7) vibrating on their full length racks? Got mine on and every time I get above ~70 MPH, my wind faring vibrates CRAZY hard. It is so bad I thought I put a wheel out of alignment or a tire out of balance. Shakes the whole 4R

I just installed the LFD hybrid bumper and a 10K winch. The winch bolts into four long slots rather than four holes, which allows the winch to be positioned front/back for best fit within the bumper. However, a hard pull will not stress the sides of graded bolts seated inside plate steel, but rather the friction of the bottom surface of the winch on top and washers/nuts on the bottom. I'm not sure this is enough to keep the winch from sliding forward into the fairlead during a pull.

Thoughts?

I’m thinking to mount an awning to the LFD crossbar.
I found some that match the length of the stock rails but I’m afraid they won’t provide much shade.

I’m thinking to upsize to a 6-6.5’ ft length one.
Not a fan of the overhang at the front but my concern is mainly how stable and secure it will be give the front part won’t have any mounting point.

Does anyone have photo of a similar setup and can provide feedback? Thanks

Just a suggestion, but I assume you have the directions in PDF form so it would be good to have them loaded into your website. That way, if instructions are not included, someone could just go to the site and download them when needed.

Appreciate the reply and the help!!! LFD has always been good about responding and helping with questions, that is why I will continue to buy their products until I run out of things to buy from them

I have a TRD skid plate but I'm sure it applies to LFD as well, but yes all 4 because you want to keep the same distance at each corner otherwise you might screw the skid plate in crooked and damage the thread in the frame.

Do you have a link to the aluminum spacers you used?

Have you tried adjusting the front feet to apply more pressure? I have a feeling what you are feeling is the front feet bouncing. If you lift up slightly on the front of the rack and adjust the feet as far down as possible this might help.

Good thought, but through the sunroof I can see the front wind faring vibrating like crazy. I'm thankful I have the sunroof or otherwise I would have no clue what was going on. And it only started when I swapped the old style faring for the new curved faring. Feet haven't moved at all.

I'll still try your suggested fix, as maybe the added weight of the new faring changed something with regards to the feet.

While I don't have the LFD bumper on my truck, I can assure you that there have been plenty of hard winch pulls made with the hybrid (and full) bumpers; I'm sure LFD will chime in, though.

I can say that at least with the ARB awnings, ARB recommends <300mm of any "unsupported" end; that being said, the closest I have experience with to what you're looking for is a friend's 7/8 rack with an ARB 2500 (2.5m). I believe this exceeded the 300mm recommendation, but lived on the truck for well over a year without any issues; it has since been replaced by a Darche 180.

On my full length LFD rack I have an ARB 2000, which fits the rack just about perfectly.

Some vehicles we've seen a need for double sided 3M tape under the front feet on the rack. We've also seen a few bad welds crack on fairings every once in a while.

Unfortunately the guy who handled Canada quotes was one of the ones out with Covid. We're still working on getting caught back up after having so many people out, and right now we are not doing quotes for Canada until we're more caught up. We may be able to get back to it next week.

Slots for winch mounting are pretty common in other bumpers as well. We do recommend that the winch is positioned as far forward in the slots as possible, but sometimes thats not possible. As long as the winch bolts are torqued well we've never seen an issue.

Unfortunately the guy who handled Canada quotes was one of the ones out with Covid. We're still working on getting caught back up after having so many people out, and right now we are not doing quotes for Canada until we're more caught up. We may be able to get back to it next week.
