The Nipple ...wire routing question

I'm in the process of routing a wire for a light bar switch through the firewall. Quick question, is this little nipple on the rubber grommet meant to be cut off to open up a route for accessory wires? Or is there a better location to run a wire through? The wire has a connector that's about 1cm wide that has to fit through the hole.

That's where I ran mine just zip tie it when your done or electrical tape to make it weather tight.

De-pin the connector and run one wire thru at a time.

Honestly they are pretty high, if you have standing water that high (as opposed to a few splashes) you are going to have water in your cabin regardless of how well you zip tied that grommet

Granted it is high up and it will never get water to that point but why not tho? It honestly takes seconds zip and clip.

Yep, I've made new holes with an xacto blade as well, feed it through with a straightener out wire coat hanger from the cleaners. I top it off with a piece of trimmed dynamat to help protect against water and dust intrusion.

I never used that nipple. Is that really what it's there for?

You know it sure would have been thoughtful of them to f'n include a secondary port through the firewall for "user" crap so that you can stay away from the factory trunk. That full harness is expensive and the hell if I would ever want to have to replace one. Ugh.

I just did as [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] suggested grease your business up with some dielectric grease. I just "carefully" followed the factory line with a 16awg and a 18awg line. The grease is the key, smooth and easy as butter.

I will say I whacked that nipple off to run the 8awg fridge line

I covered mine with liquid electrical tape once I pulled the wires through.
