The pillar mount sits perfectly flush with my door jamb, but the bracket that came with the snorkel won't work, so I will be creating my own little bracket to attach it to the pillar! It moves around in the wind a little bit and vibrates against the pillar some without it, so it's necessary.

Well damn. I was hoping I could get away without having to drill holes into my A pillar. Oh well.

What size hole saw did you use? Might attempt to put mine on this weekend. Weather and laziness depending. lol

3.5" hole is PERFECT! I'm going to use two self tapping sheet-metal screws to attach it to the A-pillar. Small holes!

Post up when you have your bracket made. Wouldn't mind seeing how you did it.

TX/RX Frequency expansion of ID-880H/ID-E880 : SP1WSR Andy

Here is the link to the mod. Remember, while it is legal to do the mod, it is not legal to transmit on the frequencies out side the bands that it was limited to. Sorry, my inner radio nazi came out... it is one of those just in case type of mods. when the s hits the fan I dont think the FCC will pin you against a wall and ask why you did what you did if it was in the event of an emergency...

I had WA state patrol frequencies in my motorola MCS 2000 opened up to transmit... very big no no if transmitted on... but they were there just in case... but alas that radio is long gone and was replaced with a dual band dual receive...

I didnt say it before, forgot, but nice build so far!

I hope to get going on mine soon...

There are literally HUNDREDS of trails and it would take YEARS to explore them all... which I plan to do! Just grab a Forest Service map (caltopo.com) and start looking!
 
So tried using that caltopo. . . .what exactly is going on here when I'm dragging the map around? Or maybe I'm just looking in an area with no forest service roads?

Yeah, you're probably looking at an area that isn't covered by the forest service maps. Make sure you're looking in a forest area!
 
That's beautiful. I just picked up a 2003 Limited in black, and minus the logo, those are the exact mods I have done. It already has tinted windows and a 3 inch lift, so my next step is saving up for a CBI front bumper and a winch. Good luck!
