So this came in the mail today
should be installed tomorrow. We will see if the Safari LTD has built a rack that will stand up to 35's and wheeling. LOL

Alignment is done and even with the total chaos upper control arms I am on the low end of the camber scale. drives great but the steering is really quick. Toe and caster are right on and the tires should wear really good. The new rack really is tight and nice. My old one must have been worse than I realized as the steering is now much easier and smoother. Now we just have to see how it holds up to wheeling. Gotta get out and finds some rocks to drive over :hungry:

The Wife gave me the green light and so what was I supposed to do. LOL Hopefully it doesn't take six months to get installed. Also on the way is a RADesign triple shifter set up so my supercharged, double locked, 5 speed on 35's DAILY DRIVER stays nice. LOL
BTW over the weekend I got to finally put the new MTR's through their paces, And I have to say that at 10psi they did really well. I would say that the hooked up at least as good as my MTZ's did. I am very happy.

Looking forward to seeing the triple stick setup. I've always wanted more gears haha. and triple sticks are just sweet to begin with. I've loved my MTZs so far especially in the snow, good to hear a review from somebody who has ran both though. I've been thinking about stepping to 35s and always wanted a "true" 35 unlike the mickeys. Then again having it a bit small should help running them with no BL and limited flares.

I honestly wish that I had admitted to myself that this was inevitable, if I had I would have gone a different axle gear. 4:88's are great, but for freeway driving I would have gone 4:56's and then with the tacobox I would have the best of all worlds. LOL such a thing to complain about. I will document the process especially the triple stick setup. I loved my MTZ's and honestly I can't tell a difference in the height of the MTR's. I made the change really based on how long it would take Discount tire to get the MTZ's in. I have no BL but I also don't have flairs either. You will love the MTZ's in the snow I had no complaint about them in any way. Maybe my next set will have to be 37 MTZ's but then I would have to have a SAS which I really don't want to do on this truck but it probably will happen someday. Keep having to remember that I have an 85 for the extreme stuff.

Yep, two snow wheeling seasons down and my MTZs still kill it. I've always debated 4.88 or 5.29 for an auto with 35s but if I like your triple stick enough I may do 4.88 and triples haha. Thatd be fun.
I always think that they'd look the same but I never know for sure. I always think a half inch isnt much seeing as its on both sides. Good to know it doesnt seem like much.

I know [MENTION=75445]4Running Daily[/MENTION] and I would be greatly appreciative if you could take pictures along the way whenever you install this. We're both wanting to go dual cases sometime in the near future :thumb3:
And any updates on how the Safari rack is doing? I'm probably going to go that route when I do my steering rack here pretty soon.

I will be happy to take lots of pics. My wife just got me a new olympus tough TG2 camera for christmas and I will put it to good use.
the Safari rack is doing great. nice and tight and it's one of those upgrades that you don't really notice except that it turns and drive much nicer than the one it replaced. you might check out this thread if you haven't already

And yeah, I had been keeping my eye on that AAE rack. It was definitely a killer deal, but Rock Auto doesn't carry it anymore, so now I'm back to looking at the Safari rack for double the price.

So since I installed the URD 7th injector and the 2.2 pulley my truck has been running a little rich as attested to by the soot in the tail pipe. being a 98 I don't have a wide band and haven't found anyone who can help me tune the 7th injector setup and pull out some of the fuel. So I decided to go another route:boxer: yesterday my new pulleyboys 2inch pulley arrived and was installed in about 10 min. I was consistently seeing 9 to 9.5psi with my 2.2 pulley and the truck ran great and I never had any pinging, But now I am seeing 12+ psi with the new pulley and man am I smiling a lot. LOL . I did multiple hill pulls in a high gear and low RPM and couldn't get the truck to ping. Man it feels fast and fun. I think I could pull some fuel from the map and still get more power out of the motor. I guess the real test will be when we break 100 degrees and see how it does in the summer. It's only a couple of weeks away here in the SW. LOL. I will get some pics tomorrow.

I got a little maintenance done today to address some issues I have had come up. Had my thermostat stick and what a pain in the butt. But it is good and caused me to look at my cooling system a little closer than I have before. So a new Toyota thermo is in as well as a new fan clutch and radiator. Went with a all aluminum radiator from a tacoma with a 3rz so that it now doesn't hang below the frame. Because the radiator is shorter I had to find a shorter lower hose. Found a gates 22120 that just needed to be trimmed and works great.

Also got a new grill because mine had several broken tabs. Upgraded to a 01 grill and think it looks killer. only problem is that my 98 emblem doesn't fit on the 01 grill.:gun4:

That's cool. I didn't know the grill's were interchangeable until now. I'll have to get me one of those for my '98. What other components are needed to fit that grill on a '98? That's a 99-02 grill, right? Thanks in advance for any info shared.
