The Smokey Build

That's cool. I didn't know the grill's were interchangeable until now. I'll have to get me one of those for my '98. What other components are needed to fit that grill on a '98? That's a 99-02 grill, right? Thanks in advance for any info shared.

Actually it's a 01-02 grill. But all 96-02 are interchangeable nothing special needed except the emblem. Lol. Clips transfer right over. I did just get a new emblem on its way from Toyota of Dallas shipped for $33. So not bad at all. You should also look at the satachi mod as well. Also looks killer

Looks good. Where did you get that radiator? Does it have any more capacity than stock?
actually the capacity is a little less. The Radiator is for a 2000 tacoma with a 4cyl and is about 3 inches shorter than the stock radiator. But this keeps it from hanging below the frame rail. All aluminum means that the tanks should never leak because it is not crimped together but welded. $165 to the door and then $60 in toyota red antifreeze and I shouldn't have to open the cooling system for a really long time.

How about that body lift
I've always said that I haven't wanted to do a body lift but because I welded my sliders on too tight, I have been considering a 1/2inch Body lift. Yours are looking sweet but just a little to tall for me. I want to stay low. LOL.

Front Lift

What setup are you running for your front suspension/lift? Do you just have the Kings? What height do you have them adjusted to? Are you running any sort of spacer too? Do you have wheel spacers?

I have a 99 black 4runner with kings also. I like your stance and was just wondering how you had it set.

Can you take some pics. Also of the wheel well where you dim the trimming ;)

That's a pretty good price. Mind sharing the place you got it from?

I am running just the kings picked them up on craigslist. Running 500 lbs springs with about 4 inches of lift and will upgrade them to 650 when the front bumper is built. Running UCA from total Chaos, and taco LBJ's with a safari steering rack. 4.88:1 front ring and pinion with ARB locker. I will try to get some pics tomorrow of the wheel well clearancing.

Sorry I didn't see this till now. Got it on ebay

I bet the bearings in your SC are hating life, though.

Are you noticing any belt slip with the 2" pulley? Those pulley boys versions don't have the "ears" and slots like the URD pulleys and I always imagined that they'd be a nightmare in terms of belt slip.

I really want to it is just finding the time. Work and to boys under 4 have been steeling all my time LOL

Boooooooost!!! Your driving a rocketship compared to me.

it shakes like a rocket ship at speed. I might actually put my sway bars back on.

I'm glad that I fully rebuilt the SC with high end bearings. Honestly I don't hit full boost that often, except when showing off to unsuspecting ricers. It usually lives in the 5-6 psi range. The belt hasn't slipped once since I put the pulley boys pulley on. I looked for a URD 2.0 pulley but they are like gold and those who have them don't want to let them go and I don't blame them. I know that 2.0 is pushing the very edge of over spinning the Supercharger. I am amazed at how rich the base line tune of the 7th injector is, I really need to do some reading and get out and tune this thing. There is more power in there I know it, this is really the down side of "the Principle of Diminishing Returns" eventually what seemed fast just seems normal, but I should be happy for a while. Yes next is to go slower, duals with triple stick has to happen. We are thinking about Moab in October.

This will seem like a blast from the past but I am looking at doing the rear disc conversion. I'm tired of dealing with the drums and it's time to rebuild my rear axle at 248k anyway plus I have to pull the axle anyway to do an elocker mod.

Anyway I was looking at your design and was wondering how the clearance was on the panhard body mount was. I only have 99 springs so I do not have a lot of room over stock. I was wondering if you could take a pic of the right side brake setup from the back so I could see how far into the axle the caliper goes.

My concern would be hitting a bump and the caliper impacting the body mount and shearing. That would be no bueno.

Amazing rig BTW. Read the whole build thread and enjoyed every bit of it.

Thank you it has been a fun build and I look forward to continuing it.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I am still using stock rear bump stops and have been fully compressed on both sides with no clearance issues. I did find this pic so you can see the rear set up on the passengers side

the conversion also has the benefits of being able to remove the rear axles and therefore 3rd member without having to open the brake lines.

Hey thanks for taking the time to show me. I thought about it some more and realized that the caliper slides down over the rotor (brain fart) and that would be cutting it close.

I have a growing pile of parts in my garage to do everything including the whole setup for the brakes. One thing that is going to be different is the mounting bracket. I'm welding mine to the axle tube and making it out of 3/8" as well. When I grabbed the calipers I also grabbed the parking brake system so if i make it work I will post up some pics. I figure between the two systems I can make something work lol.

I love making maintenance easier. I don't take my runner in for anything so being able to repair the axle without opening the brake system will be nice.

Sounds great! start a build thread and post up some pics as you go:)

Hey your 4Runner looks awesome! I have a black 98 as well, I was wondering if I could see some more pics of that grill it looks sweet!
