The worst 4Runner review ever. Help take this video down!!!

This review is not a honest representation of a "4R review", it is more along the lines of "I like crossovers better than SUVs, and I will make my case by ignoring the fact that the 4R is made to be an SUV, not a crossover."

Agreed.

It doesn't ride like a car--so buy a car! I mean, having to step up to get in is a problem? I owned a 2002 CR-V before I bought my 2001 Runner, and man, I don't miss driving in a glorified hatchback at all.

that makes as much sense as voting to take your post down? she is the one reviewing the vehicle, she stated what she likes, and dislikes, hence why you watched it. are you afraid of your resale value? are you upset she doesn't like your truck? I don't get it? do you like your rig any less? do you feel like people will look at you as foolish for your purchase after reviewing this video? is this what you felt like after you rocked your milli vanilli shirt in high school and bragged how great their music was? hahaha, sorry for the last part, but I think you're making too much of it, and the fact it bothers you strengthens her points.

If you'd like, you could vote to take this post down. You'll finally have a purpose on this forum other than being a scum-bag to the choice of brand/model vehicle you drive and own.
1- I'm not afraid of resale value because you don't buy to sell, you buy to keep as longevity is one of the trademarks of this truck which could only be recognized by loyal people with honor and dignity, not you.
2- I'm not upset that she doesn't like the 4Runner as she failed miserably in her feeble attempt to review this magnificent piece of art in its true value. I'm only upset that a back-stabbing low-life like you is allowed within the circle of this forum.

Sorry for the last part, but I think you're making too much of it ;)

A little biased perhaps but I agree with a few of the points. Some people out there are not very well educated on unibody versus body-on-frame designs et al. This review would appeal to them. The high step up was a complaint since at least the 2nd gen, so are some of the others.

Big deal, :happens:

As if you wanted us to go on to Youtube and vote it down...hillarious.

I tend to agree with about everything she said in the negative revies which is why I declined to buy one of the 5th Gereration vehicles. I would be far happier with a used 3rd or 4th Generation. I PARTICULARLY WAS TURNED OFF BY THE PART TIME 4WD EXECPT IN THE LIMITED. She did not mention or point out the non locking fuel filler door. Also right now, the increased cost of fuel a negative. I believe her points and the attitudes of present owners when they look at the 5th Generation vs previous Generations will contribute to poor sales for Toyota of the new 4Runners.

i said it before in a similar thread and i'll say it again: Consumer Reports... this is the same "venerated" publication that "does not recommend" the iPhone 4... because, as millions of customers know, that thing is a total piece shít. ;)

Toyota made a conscious decision to buck the unibody/crossover trend with the new 4Runner and so naturally it's not going to appeal to everyone (and CR especially). the flipside is that it appeals to us forum-frequenting enthusiasts all the more so. fwiw, i think perhaps the OP has a bit too much personal identity/emotion invested in an inanimate object here. you may not agree with the review(er) but what's to get so personally upset about??

I don't think too many reviews determine 4Runner sales and the 5th gen sales are up over the last year of the 4th gens by quite a bit. I think the 4Runner has had a bit of a revival with the new gen.

And while we are saying the reviewer was biased it's not like some of you are sounding so objective yourselves.

Hey, I have an idea! :trophy:

Why not make your own video touting your likes, dislikes and experiences with the T4R and then post it to You Tube? You could do it - just be objective so the other side of the T4R story can be told! :boxer:

Happy New Year!

Odd... my wife and I actually preferred the 4Runner over the Highlander. Of course I liked it for many obvious reasons, but my wife even liked it due to its capacity and smoother ride. The only thing she doesn't like is its size, which she would not have like about anything we went with as she was used to her little Rav4. I am used to my Subaru WRX so of course its a lot bigger then I am used to, but its very easy to see everywhere and quite easy to park! I park this thing straiter then I do my WRX!

I think she made a lot of good points. There's really nothing wrong with her stating her opinion. It's just that she's basing her review on her own perspective, which is probably a lot different than most people on this forum.

No need to bash her and try to get the video removed though.

Times have changed. The glory days of the body-on-frame, solid axle SUV are long gone. Everyone knows that the new 4Runner will never match the sales numbers of the older generations. The numbers Toyota attained in the 3rd and 4th generations of the 4Runner will never be seen again, unless maybe they transform the 6th generation into a softroader crossover vehicle.

Yeah, I don't think she needs to be bashed, but her perspective is way off. She's reviewing it as if it's a CUV for potential CUV buyers. She should call a spade a spade and not knock things such as step in height and on-road handling.

Yeah, these won't see over 100k/year again because this isn't the era of $1.5/gal gas. Plus, the Highlander is taking all the soccer moms that want the SUV look but the mom-utility of a CUV.

Year to date sales: http://www.toyota.com/about/news/pdf/Monthly_Sales_PR_Chart.pdf

Toyota has sold 41k 4Runners in 2010. They sold only 15k in 2009! To me, that sounds like the 5th gen has been a stunning success.

DocMT is correct, we won't be seeing those sales numbers anymore. When the 4th Gen came out, 109,308 units were sold in 2003 compared to the 41,436 in 2010. Like Quentin stated, gas prices have risen in the years which has a dramatic effect on 4Runner/SUV sales.

We might see a good sales year for 2011 because of purchases from people who avoided the first year model. Then, we can see a good numbers when the refresh comes around and that will be it for the 5th Gen run. Of course what I just wrote is a guess. Of course, things can change if price of oil drops to $15 per barrel and China all of the sudden decides to ban motor vehicles, which is unlikely to happen.

To relate to the topic; lets face it as owners, we hate this review and some statements are ridiculous but we also have to take a look at the facts.

41,000 4Runners in 2010 is a decent number. But at the same time you can't compare the first year of a new generation with the last year of the prior generation. That's silly.

Trust me, by the time the 6th generation 4Runner comes out, the 5th generation's total sales will be way lower than the 3rd gen or 4th gen. That's mostly because the market for this type of vehicle has been shrinking and will continue to shrink.
