Things that you wish you could fix on your T4R

I have this same damn issue, esp. when i put the car from OFF to ON without starting it. They damn thing buzzes and pressurizes. Passengers are always wondering what the hell that sound is... " Dude you should get your car checked, maybe there is a recall on the brakes? " drives me nuts!

I suspect it is part of the PRE-PRESURIZER ON THE BRAKES, so that when you have an emergency the system is already pressurized, When the RIG has been running for a while the pressure is maintained from the engine vacuum line.

Too many "tool" features on this rig.

To begin with this is what the dealer told me. But then I had a tech look at it and compare it to other 4Runners. My pedal was buzzing/vibrating all over the place every time I braked - to the point that it was an arguably dangerous distraction. Turned out there was something up with the master cylinder (not just the brake booster). It was vibrating/rattling so much that it was sending the vibration through to the brake pedal. I had the master cylinder replaced under warranty and the problem stopped.

the deceleration is probably the engine brake.

That's exactly what it is. Problem is, the throttle closes on its own while I'm attempting to hold a steady throttle position on the gas pedal while engine braking.

fuel door scratching and some other minor scratches, other than that I'm very happy and problem free

Why does the fuel door get scratched ? I have it too and for the life of me I cannot remember doing it. Add - making the fuel door release and hood release more clearly different !!

Yeah, Toyota has the hood release on the left on almost every model they make except the 4runner, always cracks me up. Could just switch the releases.

I hate the way the transmission shifts, I'd reprogram it if I could, every time it downshifts (WAY TOO SOON) at 32mph I think it stalled out or having trouble, gives me anxiety and drives me nutz!

I have the same problem, it dirves me nuts as well. Wish there was a fix but i have yet to see one.
