Thinkin bout gettin a 4R, Opinions anyone

I have an 85 4runner. Currently still under construction. I bought from a friend. Drove home parked out back under a tree as I had limited garage space at the time. Was driving 95 miles one way to work. Hit a deer totaling out my work vehicle. Grabbed a cheap battery from the farm store filled her up with gas. Drove the ol 4runner to work and back several weeks without a problem whatsoever. Mileage at 320,000 stock suspension with 31 x10.5 swamper radials. I got between 18-20+ mpg. Actually really enjoyed driving it. I've since torn it down started a frame on resto. Mostly body work as the rust belt had taken its toll over the years. For the money invested I can't think of any vehicle that could compare. Considering dependability, efficiency, parts availability, just general fun factor that it provides. Needless to say I love my 4 runner.

Something to think about... the 4runner will have a better resale and be easier to sell when that time comes. Both vehicles are 'old' and expect to drop a couple grand into them in the first few years working any bugs out.

I'm one month into my 86 4Runner and I'm in double what I expected to be at this point. I am, however, very picky and tend to over-build/over replace for reliability peace of mind.

All in all, I'm still well under $10k and I have a rig that is over 70% new and rebuilt already. If I bought a high mileage Ford Ranger for $10k, I'd still have work ($$) to do.

My rig: 86 4Runner, 22RE/5spd. Bought it in LA and drove it home to Portland OR. My major issue, more than anything else - rubber dry rot -- every hose & window gasket has either been or is set to be replaced. Adds up fast.

If it comes down to which i would rather have it would definately be the runner. but i also have to think of which is going to be more practical and i think the tracker is going to provide me with much better mileage

I'm looking for something with third row seating and wish I could keep mine...but here it is for sale...make me a reasonable offer and it's yours. 20 MPG, new tire wheel combo, new paint, needs some interior work (seats) but other than that, it's a good truck...just need more room.
