Hey,

You have a really nice rig and there is a very strong chance that the body should might permenantely mess it up.

Also $2000 seems ridiculously low to me but I live in CA where everything costs lots of $.

Has "the shop" done this type of work before? Do they have pictures ect...

Here in Southern CA there are many shops that constantly do truck fabrication work and have a long history. I would look for someplace like that before taking to just any ol shop. There are a lot of body shops hurting for work right now, the economy is in the dumps and who knows if they can really perform like they say they can.

In summary: find a shop that has done this type of FAB work or similar specifically on Toyotas in the past.

I would miss the interior space.

Why do you want to hack the back off?
True you will loose some weight. I would miss having that safe, dry space for storage and camping.

Usually the guys that do it either hack it off and don't care what the finish looks like.

OR, The guys that do their own bodywork and it's a great little project.

It's not going to be easy to make it look nice and "factory".

I did a jeep Cherokee many moons ago. I did all the work myself it took mine like 60 hours just in metal fab work I even welding in a roll cage just to be safe in case of a roll over I had about 2k just in supplies and meta not counting the cage. It is not a cheap mod by no means. I am think a custom ship would be closer to about 7to8 k for to project.

Metal ad welding supplies about 2k.
Plus I repainted the whole thing and most body shops are around 2k just for a paint job that is about 4k and we have not even touched the labor.

Yeah really but I can guarntee people like you, singtoe and myself would never leave that place just checking out the riggs and trying to do some work with them lol
