My wife is trying to negotiate the 4Runner out from under me! She went to the Acura dealer and is trying to trade my 2012 SR5 for a TSX wagon stating that the TSX gets better mileage and is more fun to drive. All while I'm out on a business trip!

The engineer in me sat her down.... I tried a Pugh Matrix explaining the pros/cons; used all the analytical tools in my 6Sigma toolbox to no avail....

I need some emotional arguments that work on ladies to help me make the case. Since I'm an engineer I'm probably too emotionally unavailable to connect :lmao: so here I am asking the 4Runner breathren to enlighten me on some key points to make!

Please let's here your best one-liners....

A buddy of mine's wife just traded in their paid off '08 Accord for a '13 Infiniti G37 LEASE while he was out of town :frusty:

Easy Peasy dude from one engineer to another:
1. Safety! Appeal to her safety side. Mass + full frame always wins in an accident unless you hit something with more mass lol.
2. Rugged is in style.
3. Reliability. We both know we can make numbers say whatever we want so show her how much more reliable the 4Runner is.
4. This is most important! Buy her whatever she wants like a diamond or something!
 
Who has their name on the title of the 4runner? Also who drives it regularly? If my wife tried to trade our 4runner in I'd offer to get her a different daily driver and keep the runner for myself.

I'm not surprised that some people don't like the 4runner. If you watch the consumer reports video review on it they have a 5' soccer mom complaining about how it's so tall to get into and comparing it to the highlander. If she's expecting a minivan she has the wrong car.

This is very simple;

-She can buy what ever car SHE wants, with your money (always makes them happy :P)
-The 4Runner is YOUR baby
-Buy her pretty shiny things to distract her while you take the 4Runner into protective custody out in the mountains.

On a side note, can you file for custody of your 4Runner? :)
 
Before we can offer any suggestions we will need to see pictures of the wife and if applicable any sisters she may have. For a complete answer we would also need pics of her mother to see what she will look like in 15-20 years. Her medical and financial information, while not mandatory, would be helpful as well. :photo:

If you're still packing twig and berries, simply tell her "NO."

If you communicate with a woman on an emotional level they win. When they win you'll be shopping for antiques and watching chick flicks next weekend.

It's very simple, talk to her lovingly and tell her that you are uncomfortable with such a large financial decision being made while you two are not together. You'd like for her to wait, think about it, and write down her reasons for wanting to get rid of it.

She'll give you all these reasons to go with the Acura and you can calmly tell her that a nice used 2004 Honda Odyssey will fill all her needs.

Then steal her keys and say, na-na-na-na

TSX Wagon is only the 2.4 4cyl

As for power nothing can be overpowered and as for nicer then the civic probably but in the end its a high end Honda

Wow, how lame is that. I always thought they had a V6 option for both body styles. And while I agree with you about power on most cars, anything over 300 horsepower on a FWD car is just about useless IMO. So much torque steer and very little traction just ruins it for me.
