Toyota Is Said to Discuss Rebates, Warranties to Lure Customers - Bloomberg.com


Interesting read in Bloomberg today for those about to buy.
It may be time to halt the search for a few weeks.
If they extend the warenty I don't think it will be on sellect models.
I almost bought a Trail today. I offered 1000 over invoice and after some back and forth it was verbally accepted. When we started working the details I quickly realized Desert Toyota in Vegas was working with something other than the Factory invoice. I provided my invoice numbers ands asked that a Factory invoice be produced, Carl said he couldn’t do that. I said I couldn’t give him a 1000 more than his made-up invoice.
Then I read the article above so I owe Carl at Desert Toyota a Thank you for trying to pull the wool over my eyes and giving me reason to pause today.

thanks for the link. i was prob gonna pull the trigger on an SR5 in the next few weeks, now you gave me a good reason to hold off for a while. theres already a $1000 owner loyalty that id be eligible for, but the odds on a sweeter deal in the coming months is not a bad bet.
 
Sweet, now the only thing is for them to offer something to existing customers and keep them loyal. If there is a 10yr warranty for Toyota, does Lexus get 12 or 15 now?

I think the focus will be more on existing customers than new customers. I'm figuring longer warranties retroactively for maybe 2007+ customers. That is going to help those that are upset about a loss in resale value (as the car would now be possibly sold w/ a warranty).
 
I think the short term push will be assuring potential buyers by reducing the perceived risk -- so longer warranties on new vehicles or some sort of maintenance program would see more likely.

I don't think they are going to throw a lot of money at broad rebates across the entire lineup for anybody and everybody. Something desperate like that won't help restore the public's perception and will hurt everyone (Toyota, existing owners, etc.) long term with lower resale values.

What they do for existing owners will be interesting. If they extended existing warranties, that could irritate folks who bought an extended warranty for that specific purpose (I didn't, so I wouldn't mind). I also wouldn't mind a discount voucher towards a future purchase of a new Toyota. :)

The dealerships here in Vegas are snakes and want premium for any vehicle they sell. When I purchased my 05 V8 SE I eventually gave up and went to Power Toyota in Tempe, AZ. After negotiating with them I even took their offer to the local dealerships and they wouldn't match it. 75 dollar one-way flight saved me 2 grand. I will never buy a car from a dealership here.
 
My 07' 4runner lease was just extended "month-to-month" for up to 6 months... so I'm in a holding pattern and looking forward to the March announcement.

With incentives and a possible 10-yr wty, I could be swayed to a 5th Gen.

We shall see.
 
What is this $1000 "Loyalty" discount to returning toyota customers all about? I cannot find it through toyota's website for my zipcode in Virginia. Is this only for certain parts of the country?

Also, I'm going to take delivery of my truck here prolly on March 2nd. Do you guys think Toyota will have announced their new plans for luring back customers with new incentives/warranties by this date?
 
this is another IDIOT move by toyota. offers 1000 in some states, not in others. its availabe in OH but not PA? go figure
 
Toyota commercial last night in Memphis offered 1k cash back on the 5th Gen. The fine print mentioned it only included cars on the lot, etc. but nothing about loyalty program. Also included FJ and Tundra.
 
This has been one of the most frustrating parts of my upcoming 4Runner purchase...watching people get special offers/incentives that appear no where on the Mid-Atlantic radar.

I'm hoping that Toyota throws out an uber-gracious offer in March to lure all of us back into their good graces, given the fiasco going on in congress.

(note: I fully support Toyota, and their track record speaks for itself. I have a hard time that a government that is now tied to the financial security of GM and Chrysler can be impartial on this. But if this gets me a good deal on my T4R, then I'll take it.)

I checked the Buyatoyota.com website and there is a 1000 cash back on 4runners in memphis. Not my area though... to bad. My scheduled delivery is Mar 5 so maybe I'll get luck and they'll roll this out nationwide.
 
I went on the Carmax site yesterday and noticed that there was a rebate included in the price of the 4Runners and the FJ's that were listed. There was a disclaimer to that affect as well.

picking mine up around the same time as you, brad, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us. a dream come true would be $1000 cash back AND 0% APR financing up to 60 months

i can't wait until tomorrow! i wonder what the new incentives/rebates in the mid-atlantic states will be. the suspense is killing me!
