Time to wait, interesting read

bump...

i can't wait until tomorrow! i wonder what the new incentives/rebates in the mid-atlantic states will be. the suspense is killing me!

Same here. I'm just hoping my 4Runner arrives in March. My salesman said to expect 90 days instead of 60, but I'm hoping he wasn't trying to get my hopes up, haha.

0% is what I want.

Well, if I had to predict what we would get (I assume W.VA is included in the Mid-Atlantic states??), I'd put my money on the 0% financing since they just started airing commercials for it (the one where they show the Shoreline Blue T4R) a few days ago. That commercial says "Offer ends 3/1/2010" but I bet they'll extend it to our MA states for the month of March (I hope). This is the whole reason I've been waiting an entire week to go pick up my Runner. Otherwise, I could have picked it up last week.

Hopefully yours comes in by the time you have your knee surgery...

PS. I didn't quite understand the whole "$16.67 per $1000 borrowed" limitation for the 0% Financing that was stated in the commercial. Anyone care to explain what this is about?

You're gonna have to wait an extra day or two... I was told the incentives come out on the 2nd or 3rd. But I hear ya... I have my fingers crossed.

That's fine with me. I'm getting it the 3rd. I assume they'll be announced or put on Toyo's website first thing in the morning, I hope, and not in the evening. That would suck monkeys if they announced/posted the incentives evening of the 3rd because this is the reaction I'd have :wtf:

Hope the incentives come out tomorrow or early Tues. The dealer is overnighting the paperwork on my SR5 from out of state tomorrow and my transport company is scheduled to pick it up Tues. or shortly after! If I need to have the dealer re-draw the sales contract earlier is better!

WV is in the Mid-A. I'm not very confident it'll be here in time for my knee surgery, but I'll be able to get by for the 2 weeks I'm on crutches. At least I don't have to go to work during that time. :)

The $16.67 per $1000 borrowed is to help you calculate your payment. I'll be financing $18k, so $16.67 * 18 = $300.06 payment.

$300.06 payment for what? Total paid interest (I would think not since it's advertised as 0% interest)? Or is that your monthly payment for financing 18K? I plan on financing 29,000 so maybe you can use that as an example. According to your model, that means $483.43 payment, but not sure of what type of payment. Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for trying to clear it up for me :)

$300.06 would be my monthly payment for a 5 year loan of $18k at 0% financing. $483.43 would be your monthly payment for 5 years of $29k at 0% financing. It is basically a quick and dirty way to allow people to estimate their payments without actually having to know the calculations for compounding interest. Keeps the financial arms a little more honest as well.

I was just told by a WI dealer that some incentives start tomorrow and all they will have that would apply to a 4Runner is free oil changes and tire rotation for 2-3 years. I will (of course) see what another dealer in same market has to say.

Talked to my dealer as well. He told me the new incentives will be out tomorrow (March 2nd).

I can afford to be patient on my purchase (especially with the money I just found out I owe the IRS this year!), but a really good offer would lure me to pull the trigger.

The point of incentives is to move cars that aren't selling. They don't have a problem moving 4Runners. They haven't had national stories about 4Runners being recalled. It would be incredibly bad business sense to cut your profits on a vehicle that is hard to keep on the lot.

At most, I think 4Runner buyers will get whatever fleet-wide goodies they dream up, like 0% or 2 years free maintenance, but the real incentives will target the cars they need to move off the lots, like Camrys, Corollas, and Prius.

I think 0% financing for 5-years could be enough to get me to move on a new 4runner.

Normally I lease, but lease deals on SUVs have not been very good lately, so 0% financing over 5 years could get me close to an affordable monthly payment.

We'll see.

Yup, nothing for the 4Runner in the mid-atlantic region. Bah!

I was coming on here to post the same thing. We just keep getting screwed over and over again.

As for these things "moving"...the dealer down the street from me had seven 4Runners three weeks ago. They still have 4 of those 7. And got another one this week.

I wait yet another month.

Honestly, they are moving extremely well at my local lots. I check their inventory online and the SR5s keep changing color. :(

It doesn't look like Ohio region has theirs up yet, though. I just hope mine doesn't arrive until April now. The difference between 0% and 3.95% is $2k over the life of the loan!

The 4R is in a very 'unique' catagory, they do not feel like they need to offer any specials to sell this SUV, and I partially agree.

For starters the 4R was NEVER in any of their recalls, so they do not feel like the name has been 'tained'. Sure the 'Toyota' name has been tainted but I think even after all the bad press people still know Toyota is a great brand and will out last any domestic.

The 4R is one of a dying breed. If you are looking for a SUV with these specs there are very few to choose from. If you want a mid-sized sedan, the list is almost endless, hense why they have to offer the specials to keep people from 'jumping ship' and get them back in the door for another car.

Also, more expense vehicles rarely have specials, they figure if you have the money to drop to begin with you also can afford the extra finance charges, etc. This is also a 'new' generation, more demand, IMO. If this was the last year of the 4th gen I could see them pushing specials to boost their low sales.

I looked at a few different SUV along with the 4R, without a doubt the 4R gave me the best value for my money, and best resale, it was a 'no-brainer'. Toyota knows this and has no reason to offer specials. Sure, they could offer them and boost a few sales but I do not think their company is really that bad finacially to need to do that.

How many of you are really going to back out of the deal because there are no special offers? If the extra few $$ would push the limits of what you could afford you should be looking at a lot less expensive cars/suvs, especially in these uncertain economic times, just a thought.

I don't think they updated the buyatoyta.com with March Incentives yet... if they had - they would show up in the left hand column... as of 8:00am MT they haven't updated the site.
