Timing Belt Service Recommendations in NoVA

I am due to have my belt replaced pretty soon and am looking for recommendations for a shop in the northern VA area that does solid work.

If you don't want to go to the dealership, I highly recommend Hi-tech auto and truck center in Chantilly. They do great work at a fair price.

I think they are a sponsor on this site and will give discounts to T4R'ers if you mention this site.
 
Interested in looking for someone in NOVA as well. Let me know if you find a good price :) I'm about to call the one mentioned above.
 
Redline Motorsports

I got mine done at Redline Motorsports in Manassas and haven't had any issues. I've had other work done by them too. They were the cheapest around and I know other people that have had work done by them and liked them.

I came in for preventative maintenance and they ended up not doing the work as expected. The assistant service manager who handled my visit took my 4Runner out for an unauthorized joy ride without my knowledge and did not let me know after visit. It took a while to straighten everything out from original work needing to be done to confronting them with footage from unauthorized drive. They ended up bending over and finished the job accordingly. Never going back there again.

It's just a disorganized dealership which is unfortunate because Priority is a big time name brand in Hampton Roads along with Charles Barker. Priority is trying to expand to Northern VA opening up several dealerships and I moved to Fairfax last year...was trying to find a new home here but unfortunately I do not see any quality dealerships here in NOVA. I use Charles Barker Toyota off Laskin Rd. in Virginia Beach for major repairs because I have a family account with them for 20+ years

Honestly it could be possible they got their act together after my visit so service dept. might be better and efficient this time around...either way I'm not going back there. They broke the trust as soon they took it out for an unauthorized joy ride. It's the principle that matters to me

I have to say, my experience with Hi Tech has not been confidence inspiring. I contacted them for a quote on the Timing Belt job and received an email estimate pretty fast. However when I replied to the email with a few questions about lead time and how long they would need my truck I got nothing. A week went by, I sent a follow up email (i don't have long distance or cell service at my house) and still nothing. I contacted them yesterday about doing a suspension install and mentioned that I had to go elsewhere for the timing belt since they were unresponsive. They said they'd call back with an estimate and...nothing. I can't say anything as to the quality of their work but I can say their follow through leaves a bit to be desired.

I ended up going to Miller Toyota in Manassas at a ~$100 premium over Hi Tech. I opted for the dealership since I'll be moving soon and wanted better recourse at a national level.

How was your experience with this particular dealership in Manassas? I'm still sticking to my hometown dealership in Virginia Beach but still on the lookout for a "backup dealership" here in NoVA
 
My experience in general was positive. They took a little longer to finish than originally estimated but all in all a seamless job. I was offered a free loaner car to use while my vehicle was being worked on and the final total came out to be less than the estimate.

From personal experience and from others, I would recommend avoiding Hi Tech Auto. They have gone down hill in recent years. I was going to get my DT headers installed there and after giving me a quote, called me back and doubled it after seeing what they had to do. I would recommend GT Peace where Scott works now (which is across the street from Hi Tech). If you live closer to Arlington/DC, there is a shop called Japan Auto City that has gotten stellar reviews on yelp:

They are down the street from me so it's good to know there is a shop that I can go to if I can't fix something myself.
 
Sorry to hear all the bad experience with Hi Tech. I personally had a great experience last year when I had my suspension done.

Another place I used to go back in the day was Fix Your Toy Auto in Manassas. They were a hidden gem back in the day. Not sure if they are still around. I can't find a site for them.

that's crazy... there are always a few of those people working for the dealership. But I personally know a few of the techs and service writer that have worked there for years. Very hard working and humble people.

I understand how you feel - it is unfortunate how everything went down with Priority Toyota Springfield. I'm a man of principle so when I saw the initial footage, trust was broken at that point and I knew it was best to avoid them in the future. I just wanted the work to be done correctly and move on from the incident. I actually enjoyed at least 3 service visits with Priority Toyota until the incident took place. I planned on becoming a loyal CUSTOMER of Priority for as long I was in DMV area (which I still am) so I'm still without a favorite dealership here unfortunately

If you are in the Alexandria area, there's a great little shop at 4588 Eisenhower Ave. K&G Auto Repair. 703-299-0760. Kostas Liatsos and George Queen. George used to work for Jack Taylor Toyota.
