Tint apt. this weekend .... 20 or 35 percent ?

So I have a appointment this sat to get my front windows tinted.

I can't decided whether I want to do the legal in CT 35 , or go with the nice looking 20 percent that will match the rears better... But I'm nervous about getting bothered by the old pennies. Few surrounding towns in my area are a pain in the butt but I'm not sure if I'd fly under the radar with the T4R

If anyone has pics of their ride with either please share.

I had the same problem when I was getting mine done. I have had 20 and got pulled multiple times when I was younger...Its not worth it go with the 35.

I literally had some dude in an alley do mine. He "matched" them, but put 15 on. I have never been pulled over for it, but I think it's a secondary offense here...

Mine is matched to the stock rear which I assume is 20.

The guy that owned it before me was a Fireman that saw cops every single day and was never hassled.
So far I have never been hassled in the last 8 months I have owned it.

20% offers more protection for your interior, better UV and heat protection, and looks way cool. It's a lot harder to see through 20% when someones out looking to jack your sh!t.

I have 30% on my fronts, and well, they're too light and I hate it.

I have 35% on my Mercedes and it was just a waste of money getting tint that light, in my opinion.

20% (or even 25%) is perfect, IMO...

I've never had a ticket for anything other than speeding... unless you're being a total jerk to the officer, blasting your subs, or driving around with other obvious ticketable offenses... I wouldn't worry about tint.

If you do get pulled over though... never a bad idea to roll both the fronts down regardless of your tint choice

Wow the 20 looks so badass...

Cops In my area are just ****s I guess, I've gotten pulled over for just tints on my 94 toyota pickup. He straight up told me he was pulling me over because of my windows.

Its kindof the reason I haven't gotten tints yet, normally tints would be the first thing I do on car. But that 150$ ticket burned me ..

This isn't going to be a easy choice, keep the pics coming bros!

On a side note, I personally think darker tint sucks for offroading.. Not sure if you do that, but if its raining, cold, or dusty, I have the windows up, and this mainly is in respect with the rear windows being dark, but I hate it. Can't see obstacles as good as a non-tint'ed truck.

Im leaning towards the 20% .... ill just drop my front windows if I see a cop . Rain/sleet or snow lol

i just got 20% done on mine... it matches the rear perfectly IMO... just go with 20, and dont drive like an A-Hole... Cops will leave you alone..

The windows were tinted already when I bought the truck. I too live in CT and worry about the cops. But I know most cops in my town so I don't worry to much. It's when I get on the highways with the "big hats" then I worry a little.

Just last week I had my 2 front windows retinted with 20% because the original tint was turning purple. If it's good tint the the 20% matches the back. I also tinted over the rear slider with 20% to make it darker then factory.

I'll try to take pictures tomorrow of it for you..

I have 35% in the front and 20% in the rear.

I think 25% in the rear and 35% in the front is best.

I got my fronts matched shortly after I got the truck.. I wanna say it was 20 but I'm not sure. I know it's not any higher than that. Unless a cop is really being a tool I can't imagine he's gonna write you a ticket for 20% tint. My excuse will always be, I bought the car with it and I never realized it was that dark to be illegal. Cus I mean honesty, 20 isn't that dark.. I can see in and out just fine. You don't drive anything insanely flashy, you'll be fine.

I originally did my front 2 windows 35% and all the other glass 20%. Hated it...35% is way too light. So a month later I took off the 35% and had both fronts redone to 20% to match the rest. So, so much better now. Love it. Never ever had a problem with cops before about it either. I've even been pulled over for other reasons and they've never said a word about it.

Oh and I forgot to mention, I also have my ENTIRE front windshield tinted 35% too. :bigok:

LOL, nah, not at all...you'd be surprised how many passengers take a ride in my 4Runner for the first time that don't even realize my windshield is tinted until I say something about it. Plus, 35% is so light, it's not hard to see out of at all...any darker and I'm sure it would be.

Wait 'til you get the 20% on your windows...you'll think it's dark for all of a day. After that you'll be so used to it you won't even think about it.

If 35% is legal, get 30%. If cops are dinks about it where you live, then don't tempt them.

IMO I would go with 20 it looks alot better than having 2 diff shades witch looks like crap to me. My 4R has 20 to match the rears and I love it. Never once have I been pulled over for it. But that has alot to do of the area i live in.
