I checked the tire pressure and everything seems fine. The lows at night are in the 50s and the highs are in the mid 80s, do you think it is just the changes in the weather recently?

Yeah check your spare. That happens to me in the winter and make sure there is the correct tire pressure in the spare. My TPMS light came on yesterday morning because it was in the mid 30's here in Nashville, TN but once it warmed up it went away.

I actually had a bad problem with two sensors that I need to share. I went through the spare tire refill to make the light go out and all but it turns out the shop that put the tires on damaged my sensors. This caused a slow leak on my right front and when I pulled the spare it was light on air again as well and had to limp to a gas station. So two sensors were bad and the valves actually caused the leak. (The sensor includes the valve). Long story short, I pulled all sensors and am back to what we did 20 years ago with tires. I look at my machine when I am home and will monitor the pressure myself.
This is a very common complaint in the Spring and Fall.
Tire pressure usually changes by 1 PSI for every 10 degrees F in temperature change. The light comes on around 27 PSI. If you usually run your tires around 30 PSI when it's 70 degrees outside, the light will probably come on when the temperature drops overnight.

My issue with the TPS
I don't know if you have had any service done on the tires recently but I had an issue with a tire pressure sensor - it got all corroded so it failed.
The pressures where complete good - went to check it and found that they sensor was the issue. Expensive fix...oh well.

What caused the sensor to corrode? I know moisture on the sensor body itself can cause it, which is (one of the reasons) you shouldn't use that fix-a-flat stuff.

My 2008 T4R had its tire pressure sensor light turn on last week. I went to the dealer 'cause I didn't know what was up. They checked my truck and said my tires were about 5 pounds low all around and it was that plus the up down temperatures we've been having.

My low pressure light won't go off, and I've checked all the tires and the spare. All are good. Is there one main sensor, or does each tire have it's own. I guess what Im getting at is this something I can replace on my own or do I need to take it to a shop. Also is there any other issues that may stem from a bad sensor, I can I just let it be and check the tires manually? thanks guys. ps this is an 06' sport ive got

Tire Pressure based on weather condition
Hello all fellows 4Runners. I read all and many blogs about this tire pressure issues. But I cannot find the clear answers.
1. What is the normal tire pressure for the 4 tires and the spare?
2. So if the pressure drop by 1psi for every 10 degree F, will the pressure increase if the temperature increases? Let say I inflate it at 35psi at 60 degrees F, then the temp is up 90degrees during the afternoon (Phoenix temp), will this pressure stay the same or increase?
3. What is pressure should be set for cold weather and hot weather, like AZ vs MA?
I only wish the manual has all this detail. Unfortunately, this 4Runner's owner's manual are not well written or illustrated.

1) Normal tire pressure is 32 PSI for stock tires. Check the side of the tire for Max Pressure. Good rule of thumb is to fill about 3-4 PSI below max for best economy. This allows for expansion as the air warms inside the tire (like driving or on hot days).
2) Pressure will increase as the temp rises. Don't forget, when you start driving down the highway, the tires heat up a bit (not excessive ~1-2 PSI) and this also raises the tire pressure.
3) Cold weather - depending on where you are and how much the temps will rise... 30-32 when cold is still a good recommended tire pressure for almost all conditions. This allows for expansion when it heats up, and won't set off the sensor when it gets too cold.
