Tire protection package

When I bought my 12 4R in July they tried to sell me on a tire protection package. It was around $300 and they said it would cover any road hazard etc. I don't remember for how long, but it would cover any tire I put on the vehicle, not just the stock ones. Anyways, I turned it down because I was going to research it more. I can't find the brochure they gave me and can't seem to find anything about it online.

Has anybody purchased this? Is it something worth looking into? Or is it better to just buy the one the tire shop sells when buying tires? Thanks for any info.

That's a tough call on if you should get it or not. Me personally, I turned it down since I am hoping that I won't have as many incidents in a larger vehicle with big fat tires.

On a smaller car with big rims and low profile tires, I'd get it again in a heart beat. Came in really handy for me when I bent rims and popped tires like nobody's business hitting all those pot holes the city refuses to fix

And yes you are understanding it correctly, it usually covers any rims/tires that are on the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Go to Discount or America's tire (same company). If you do the lifetime balance/rotation pkg. you can get the road hazard warranty also. About $130 for all four tires.

I had just bought new BFG Rugged Terrains for my 10' Xterra Off Road. After I totaled it 3 weeks later they transferred the warranty to the new 13' TE with no hassle.

Discount will also do a "match" balance for over size tires and wheels. They find the heavy spot on the wheel and tire seperately, mount the tire accordingly then balance the combo. This made the Rugged Terrains (E rated) ride as smooth as the original equipment tires even with the higher pressure in the new tires.
