The thought of having to return 1 or more tires from a 4 tire purchase doesn't sit well with me. It ain't worth the nickels and dimes you save.

why is everyone acting like discounttiredirect doesnt exist?
i bought from them and saved $120 over anybody else, and shipping was free from their ebay seller. It was a smoking deal in feb/april of this year. I got 5 stock size cooper discoverer at3 for just under 1100 (with tax). and i got firestone to mount and balance 5 tires (even got myself a matching 5th rim so i got rid of the spare black rim) for just under $120 (included lifetime balance and rotate). so i was done for $1220.
and i travel between texas and louisiana a bit so i wanted to make sure i could get to a firestone no matter which state i was in, and it turns out there are many firestones all along i10 and where im normally at in either state.
the only thing im kicking myself for is not going to 275/70/17 haha. :Cry:

I usually try DTD, but they don't always have the brand/size I want/needed. same thing as sears as I previously posted.
they don't even carry the rav4 tire type and I needed an exact replacement so I wouldn't be off on size on the awd drivetrain and I only need 1 tire instead of 2

i used to buy online, but now i prefer to have a local shop do it, then i can get a package on free rotations, alignments etc. and like others have said, show them the prices you see online to negotiate a better deal.

Does anyone have any photos of tire packaging that were shipped? Random request, though I want to see if there is room for damage.

The ones I have gotten were held together with those thick plastic tie straps, no packaging. Can't imagine damaging a tire during shipping, they are damn near indestructible when unmounted.
