Too hot to handle. Literally

Hi gang. My old 1999 4Runner is about to bite the dust. I am interested in buying a 2013 4Runner Trail but I am very concerned about the black trim, especially the door handles and roof rack, here in the desert heat where I live. For those of you who own later model 4runner Trails with the black trim, what is your experience with it in direct sun aka the summer time? From my experience anything black in the desert is not good.

It is no issue. The plastic it's made out of isn't smooth - the rough texture dissipates heat well. Have had two 5th gen TRs - a black one and a grey one - no issues on either. Do not worry!

I live in south Florida, and it gets pretty hot here. I also own a 2013 TE.....no issues with the trim getting hot.

Buy that sucker!

I've got a 2011 LTD Magnetic Gray Metallic with black interior. It stays outside here in the deep South, and I have had no issues. At home I'll auto start it (sometimes) and let it cool down a bit or, just get in start with A/C and let all the windows down for a few minutes, doesn't take long for the heat to run out. :thumb3:

Get your trail in silver so it stays cooler inside. And oh - the black trim doesn't cause any problem.

How long have you lived in Arizona?

For the 22 years I've lived there I can't recall ever not being able to open a car door because of the heat.
