Get what you like burro, but overall unless you get the limited, you will not have the daily grip you have now with the 4th gen. I cannot think of anything better than having full time 4wd like the current Limited or the 3 or 4th Gens.
They drive better, wet, dry, slippery. period. comparing from a Beemer 5 series is perhaps unfair to the runner. I have a 2010 SR5 I purchased about a week after they went on sale, and its been thru 1 winter with me, as well as rain. in rain its been totally fine. with the VSC, it all but takes out any slippage on wet stuff. I do miss full time though. that was a serious backwards move by Toyota. my opinion. covered up with terms like "going back to the roots". oh yeah, good one. lets go back to Carb's while we are at it, get rid of that pesky EFI.
new ones are nice, but I still miss my 4th gen, oh how I loved them so... Had 3 of them and loved each one. my new 5th one I still have not fallen in love with like the old ones. V8 torque and Torsen was sweet, and I think you could drive them faster with more control than the new ones. In the end I am glad the big T didnt kill it, nor make it a unibody. but I am sure one day either one of them will come and smack the runner in the face and we will cherish the 5th like no tomorrow.
My recomendaaaaation is - keep 4th, or go with a new Limited. just change the girly wheels and tires to the trail.
