I have no respect for the BMW. It is basically a tall, poor handling 5-series wagon; except the wagon actually has more interior space.
I really don't care how fast the X5 is because it is a complete poser suv. It has no room, it can't go off-road and it gets bad gas mileage. All the drawbacks of owning an suv but none of the benefits.

I would love the BMW X5 Le Mans. I saw Hans Stuck driving it around Le Mans, talk about amazing video of an SUV flying! IT was some tuners truck and it was truly a sweet ride!
My buddies Porsche SUV (V8, not the turbo) is not that fast from the inside. I would love to see its 0-60 times. I took my mom's V8 VW Toureg the other day too.

When I took delivery of my M3 at the BMW perfromance delivery center, I was able to drive all the BMW'S at the track and wet skid pad. If a person were to drive an X5 4.4 or 4.6 the way it is designed to drive it would kill the 4runner. I know yall are talking about 0 to 60 but geez how much fun is that? I want a track to test and see how a vehicle performs.

Alright we'll set up a track like the ones' they have at the Land Rover dealers and see how the BMW does.
These are two different vehicles. There is actually a point to the 4Runner. I don't see the point in the X5. All the drawbacks of an suv without any real utility. If I wanted a sporty vehicle I would but and Audi Avant or a 3 series wagon.

Does not sell the X5 as a SUV. They call it an SAV, the 'a' being for activity. I'm not pro or con here; I personally chose the 4R over X5, mostly due to practicality, and I use my 4WD differently
[and more] than most people. X5 is much more active, than useful.
But you have to give them credit for attempting to more accurately categorize it.

FOR ME, I think they are completely silly. It's a "can't car". All I can see when inside one is "can't".
Can't go off road

Can't carry my stuff
Can't tow much
Can't get any better mpg's

my best friend has a 3.0 x5. we raced 3 times to 70. we switched cars and raced again. every single time, my 4runner edged him. slightly. i mean, maybe 1.5 car lengths at 70. i expected to beat the x5 badly (based on what i read in this post), but i was very surprised.
then i pull in behind my 4runner and he was full throttle off the line. he pulled away in my 4runner, but barely.
now i love my 4runner and i am no fan of the x5, but there is no way that a 4runner can hang with a v8 x5.
on another note... my best friend also has a tundra 2 wheel drive and i beat him by the exact same margin.
